This is the only active case against Hunter Biden. It's serious ... but it has nothing to do with the laptop or Ukraine or any of that. Jury is chosen in Hunter Biden's federal firearms case and opening statements are set for Tuesday

It's not unusual for anyone to settle a tax case outside of court with an agreed upon percentage + (possible) punitive cash penalty.

To me it's a bit of head scratcher, not sure this rises to the level of conspiracy theorey, but here are the facts that we so know,
1) Joe made trips to to China and Ukraine as the point man representing the head of state for the USA when he was VPOTUS. China was interested in influencing US policy, and Ukraine interested in US funding for arms.
2) Shortly after those trips, Biden Jr. was hired by state-controlled entities in both countries. His contracts were in the $millions/year.
3) Hunter was neither experienced or connected to the oil & gas industries. He was connected to Joe.
4) At the time Hunter was hired, he was overwhelmed with multiple addictions (coke, alcohol, prostitutes) and by all accounts operated in a stupor most of that time.
5) Hunter failed to report income from the Chinese and Russians. He was caught, and charged with nine counts, including failure to file and pay taxes; evasion of assessment; and false or fraudulent tax return. He pled down to misdemeanors which the courts refused to accept, overturning the plea because it was thought to have been politically influenced for leniency.
6) The House Committee on the Judiciary,Select Subcommittee on the Weaponizationof the Federal Government, and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence had some pretty scathing reposts on how Biden Sr. interfered and orchestrated coverups to mislead voters. Here is the report.
There is a lot of explaining to do. Hunter is not running for president, so the real question is did Joe Biden peddle influence for the benefit of his son?

None of the Republican House Committees have accomplished anything useful, and they've mostly served to spout Retrumplican conspiracy theories and political BS, many of which have backfired (including yesterday's Dr Fauci one). Credibility of the current Republican house is pretty much nil.
YES Hunter Biden is flawed. Drug addictions, and he has been in trouble with the law, and probably there is more that the public is not aware of.

That's not the point. There is no doubt there was dirty deeds on both sides of the Hunter Biden equation -- the point is the facts are not unwound, there are too many unanswered questions, and the investigations on some of the facts has faced political interference and non cooperation from the Whitehouse.Republicans probe FBI about Biden informant accused of lying

There’s considerable doubt.
Depends if the perception of dirty deeds comes from Russian misinformation or not. According to the FBI, it does. The way the republicans silently skulked away from the rabid frenzy over this also seems to suggest they think so too now. What’s left? A felony gun charge which isn’t usually prosecuted at this level but that’s all they have.
Sometime when you grasp at straws you get a handful of air.
