The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

There's one on Mississauga Rd east of Belfountain, just west of Woodland Ct, and another one at Winston Churchill & Bush St. There's also a smaller one on FOTC Rd just south of where it splits into FOTC and Mississauga again, but at that point you don't have any good options.
The most obvious one is the moment that you make the turn left from Bush Street. The first right turn has a sign saying "Tight Turn - No Trucks." At that point the only thing to do would be reverse.

...and they don't stop coming.

And driver fled and then returned. The dumbest of the possible course of actions. I wish they would implement the $1M minimum bill to insurance companies (or driver/company owner assets if no insurance). The consequences are obviously too low to bother putting your box down.

Getting your ticket pulled is a clear and obvious Ministerial possibility. Negligence in operation.

We need to move beyond possible and on to mandatory minimum sentences. Driving around with your box up isn't a momentary lapse. Maybe make trucking companies work like LLBO. You need a qualified party to be responsible for the license. If Company A gets shut down for negligence, there is almost zero chance you can open Company B and get it licensed. Make the owners care and their concern will flow down to the drivers.

Brampton woman gets 3rd DUI charge in 15 months. This one for crashing into a house and fleeing. One of the charges is breach of probation so obviously she has at least one conviction. What's the over/under on her getting immediate bail and continuing to drive drunk?

And in other news, the citizens of Brampton have started a change.org petition to have drinking and driving brought in as a demonstration sport at the '28 Olympics in Los Angeles, have it fully recognized as a sport in Brisbane in '32, with the goal of bringing all three medals home to Canada Bramalea. News of the petition has mobilized the citizens of Niagara Falls to hold an emergency hold-my-Hennessey meeting to mount a counter proposal to the one from Brampton.

Three charges and one conviction in 15 months makes me ask how many times she drove drunk in that period just not getting caught.

Please tell me it was beige.
That's only for the Personal Finance sub-reddits. Must be a Corolla, must be beige. Otherwise it's frivolous.

As for bad drivers...this is a perfect example of why I don't engage with idiots on the roads anymore.

Or at least try not to...some idiot almost backed into me on the bike last week and I got into a verbal with him. Effing Quebecois.

It'll be difficult with present corporation regulations. Does a shareholder get punished for the negligence of driver Jack Goofus?

Licencing, whether it's trade or corporate is IMO based on old standards where it was assumed that everyone complied and a bit of wrist slapping kept the system on the level.

We have a huge growth of companies run by people from a different culture. In third world countries they patch sidewalls of truck tires. They weld chassis with primitive equipment and safety gear. Critical parts are fabricated out of a scrap cut from a steel drum. That mentality immigrates as well.

The IBM "Pursuit of Excellence" doesn't exist. It's pursuit of survival and we are not equipped to handle the cultural difference.

Why it won't be trivially simple, LLBO has run for years under a similar model (mostly successfully). No need to reinvent the wheel. The smaller companies are easier to deal with as they have few trucks and locations. Out of province companies would be difficult. Maybe start with dump trucks as they are all ontario based and mostly small companies.

Pulls a U turn, stops and blocks two lanes, wearing a dress and Krocks and then trying to murder the guy filming with a knife.
Another wonderful "Canadian" making Canada proud!

There needs to be stand your ground. As it is now, meeting force with equal force get's you charged. Don't be doin' the police's job (which they don't do as it is).

Driver arrested and charged. Police looking for passenger. I expect he will be driving with a knife tomorrow morning.

"... get out of a vehicle and repeatedly threaten..." Um, no. He was trying to keep the knife out of sight when he exited the car and then only let it be visible when he was close enough to attack. He was actively trying to slash the guy who was recording and the only thing that saved him, was the thug didn't know how to use the knife properly.

And he left himself fully exposed to a counter attack after the wild swing. He's a knife-brave dumbass. Plain and simple.

He’s lucky he came across someone that wasn’t about to beat the **** out of him, or just outright ready to kill him.

Self defence right?
