The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Brampton representing once again. A left turn in front of a car that was in 172 territory and boom. Interesting that this guy has a camera aimed at the intersection. It must get a lot of action there.

Plot twist, high speed driver was from kitchener. He wanted to fit in so he was uninsured with a suspended license. Say goodbye to his financial future. If I was in the car that was hit, I would do everything I could to take a percentage of his income for the rest of his miserable life.

"Police tell CityNews two women in their 20s were in the white sedan that was struck. They were both sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries but their condition has been upgraded to non-life threatening.

A 21-year-old man from Kitchener was the lone occupant of the speeding vehicle. He is facing multiple charges including two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, driving while under suspension and operating without insurance."
If speeds were reasonable the white car seems to be in the wrong. Bulletman hopefully changed the rules.

Can bulletman claim bankruptcy when the bills come in?

The insurance company will likely just not try getting blood from a turnip and pay out (uninsured motorist coverage). He could be subject to a lawsuit to reimburse them, personally, but that is weighed against the likelihood of the insurer being successful in not just obtaining a judgment, but in collecting it.

Rules of fault determination state that fault can be reassessed, against the normal rules, if one of the drivers is exceeding the limit by more than 15 Kmh.

Court judgments, fines, orders of restitution, etc. survive a declaration of bankruptcy. See Section 178:

Just saw that on cp24. Gotta correct you though, the highly qualified journalist informed me thru the ticker it was in 'brampoton'. Not joking.

YRP has ALPR too now (not sure if it is all vehicles or some). This is quickly becoming a game changer. Heading towards a call, cops will have a record of all vehicles headed away that passed a cop. They may not know they are searching for a silver jetta on the way to the call but once they know, they can see if they have the plate driving by and it's game over.

Whoops. Rear ended himself with the car he was towing. Putting chocks behind the wheels while towing is an interesting strategy.

"Police say the driver claimed he had to brake hard to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him, causing the car he was hauling on a trailer to smash into the back of his van.
"He attempted in great length to assure the officer that the car was not insecure as it had been secure prior to the incident," OPP stated. "Well, we can see not that the vehicle was not as secured as he claimed.""

Secured with what; the parking brake? Not a strap in sight.

There's a strap under the rear wheels (where they are now) and looks like one just in front of the chock on the right hand side. I agree, it doesn't look like there were enough (and obviously there weren't). If you can knock your load off by hitting the brakes on your minivan you have big issues with load securement.

What's the towing capacity on a Dodge Caravan? I doubt that load was within spec.

Tractor trailer got in a crash today (I suspect on 400 nb near hwy 9 but don't want to put in the effort to confirm). Driver charged with improper license and careless. Shining star. It's a long weekend. If your paperwork is not in order, stay home. Your odds of getting away with stupidity drop by a bunch.

The Guild of Automotive Restorers in Bradford has the original George Barris mystery machine (among other amazing cars)
I went thru Bradford last week, Guild building vacant.. did they move?
