Yeah kinda sloppy out there, didn't see another bike, kept asking myself "wtf am I doing out here riding in the rain". Still enjoyed it though.
I rode. The weather's supposed to get better throughout the week, too. I save almost $100/week riding. When I finally switch to the van, it's the long walk to the parking lot instead of the one block to the bike at the end of the day that's the most depressing.I rode in today. Kept the highway riding to a minimum. Got some crazy looks when I showed up at work though haha. I'd rather pay $2.50 in gas riding to work and home rather than $10 in my car lol
Be careful tomorrow as it is supposed to be -5 in the morning, But Sunday is looking good with a high of 15.
Anybody ride in today? I usually see a dozen or more riders on the way in to work, today not a soul
Yep, didn't see a single bike out there either. Snow started to land on my bike when I parked it at work. Ugh.
I rode in to work today; didn't see too many riders on the road, but where I usually park, there were a lot more bikes than usual. I did see a couple of snowflakes falling this morning too.
I rock two pairs of longjohns, two sweaters, the rain liner (to stop the wind from cutting through the jacket), some decently warm gloves, neckwarmer, and boots with two pairs of socks. I'm comfortably warm, as long as I don't go above 80 km/hr.
I'm new to riding (started riding late August this year) and I love it, but my concern isn't staying warm, since it's not that different from skiing. I'm more worried about my lack of experience with the colder road conditions. I'll probably put it away for winter after today. Seeing the snowflakes worried me a little. I have a fear of hitting black ice on two wheels (I've had a couple of bad wipe-outs on a bicycle; I don't really care to find out what it's like wiping out at anything about 50 km/h).
It's a bit of a cold snap, if you're in Toronto it's going to warm back up enough to ride out another couple weeks probably.
...and if you're only riding during the daylight hours, it's not so bad. It's the days that are a bit damp that I worry about, because the temp drops and the light is gone for the ride home. But look on the bright side, in 47 sleeps, the days start to get longer again!
I gave mine a deep seafoam bath last time, she'll be smokey when I pull her out of hibernationFriday through out the weekend looks promising. Tempting to take er out from hibernation.
