You're still ugly!
one of my favorite of quotes of all time is when you were talking about some story: "I told him to shut up or I'd punch him to death". hahaha!
You're still ugly!
Yeah because faulty stators and reg/recs totally break due to lack of maintenance  not to mention cracked frames...thats because of lack of oil changes right?
And my RC51 almost caught on fire when gas leaked out of the tank onto the rear header pipe... I suppose thats because I didn't lube the chain.
Youre obviously a GIXXER FANBOY and/or Suzuki employee.

Spud wears a helmet?.....there goes my theory of why he might be like he is!........maybe he didn't back when he was racing dirt bikes, that could explain it.Stop being nice to him!! His head already doesn't fit in his helmet!!
No, the terminals weren't corroded and my batteries werent dead until the regulators and stators killed them. Commom problem on all GSXRs. Garbage parts.
The RC51 had a documented gas tank issue that Honda never owned up to. The SP1 developed cracks where the rear mount is welded to the tank....gas right onto the exhaust!! Honda offered to pay for half the tank after I hounded them for 3 months. Thanks, but no thanks.
My wifes 1000RR left her stranded three times, garbage battery and charging system. We ponied up $200+ for a Shorai to fix the problem...lets see how long it lasts.
Ducati has a questionable reputation from their past, which is usually propagated by ignorant people who haven't even ridden a late model, let alone owned one. Parts are plentiful and their prices are generally in line with the Japs. There are dealers all over the place now!
Between the two of us, I wonder how many helmets we've broken? I'm suprised ARAI hasn't contacted me for research on this point.......and what's with you and air-fences???Don't make me test your helmet!
and what's with you and air-fences???
So my buddy who owns an 1198 and lives in Niagara has a non-current Ducati and a Ducati Dealer nearby and he's perpetuating an old stereotype of reliability issues with Ducatis? Um, no. His 1198 is less than a year old, garage kept and it didn't start when he washed it! After what he paid, its a frigin joke and he took it as such. He's been around enough to know that Ducatis are not the pinnacle of reliability. He owns the bike because it makes tractor-like torque, good for him. His closest Ducati Dealer is in Oakville fer chissakes!, he's semi-retired and it doesn't bother him that much for now but as that thing ages I bet it'll get to be an issue if something as simple as washing his bike is a problem when its still almost new. Hahaha.
With the charging system failures that you keep seeing on different makes of bikes, you should be looking very closely at the connections at your rect/reg and stator wires. These connections have a hard job because they live with heat and a fair amount of current. The tiniest bit of a problem with thiis connection will cause our "light duty" charging systems to fail. Something to check on a few times a year. Could still be a lack of maintenance issue there.
I thought you were making a specific point about GSXRs stranding you?, you didn't mention that Hondas were causing you grief too. Strange to have the same problems with different brands but the GSXR is the one that's junk.
..........or all Ninjas ever made by the number of engines that have spit out rods or had front wheel recalls.........or Yamaha Road Star tranny shaft circlip seat not being machined deep enough allowing clips to fail and the bike to engage in two gears at once, locking the back tire up. It seems that just about any mfg can have a recall but Japanese bikes don't have a reputation for being unreliable when you pay a premium for it. Ducati always has had and still do have GLARING problems with reliability on their big bucks, crown jewel touted bikes and they likely always will. I think that Ducatis are generally inferior in many ways to Japanese bikes due to the amount of problems that are usually had with ownership of them. They should spend a bit more time trying to improve their product instead of trying to make big numbers that someone with a "common" bike has reason to doubt. You are judging a brand based on a pretty small sample size there! Lol.
How about we judge GSXRs based on the frame failures? Hahaha
careful with that 'failing throttle hand' or it could lead to 'posingatstarbuckducatistyle syndrome" hahahahaha! It's sad though because that affliction usually only happens to older, more affluent types that have more to live for, apparently. hahahaha!I've owned 6 GSX-R 1000s. I currently own three of them - all in the 200hp range. I've yet to have a major component fail, other than my throttle hand.
.....with the big numbers and world-beating claims that they've always made, they should have been leaving my old scow in the dust for the last 5 years but they don't. Thats my point. This post is about Ducati once again making a laughable claim, supposedly making more HP than a ZX14 or busa, I'd bet. I'm still waiting for an owner of a 70 000 kms Ducati that will whip my GSXR in a "pose-down" to post the Tim Horton's location we're going to meet at! hahaha!Im still waiting for an explanation as to how Ducati made "big number claims" that they didnt live up to...
