LMAO@ Ducati 1199's dyno number

Hrm... I like how they used the baseline Ape which is a bunch less expensive than either other bike... not.

Yes, it's the APRC but the Factory edition is more in line with the price and performance of the two other bikes. There's as much as 8hp in the midrange of the Factory edition (variable intake tracts) and of course the suspension is considerably better on the Factory. There are also frame differences and others as well.

Aprilia should of sent them the factory then?
Aren't the ape and BMW both $17K?

No, the Ape can be had for $12999 in the States and has APRC standard now. The Tuono is the same price. Published prices and real street prices are quite different.

There's also zero percent financing.

If you try real hard, you could probably buy a Factory in the states for about $17999. Bear in mind that in addition to a big midrange horsepower bump, this gives you a full Ohlins suspension, front and rear. It's not really lighter because despite having some carbon components, it has the variable intake tracts.

And it's beaten the 2010/11 S1000RR again and again on many tracks both big and small. That's forgetting WSBK where it's also beaten BMW -- a tiny little factory in Noale against the giant beast that BMW is (comparatively).

Not that I care. On the road, the RSV4 is 100% completely involving at all times and the motor's character is constantly obvious - not just strong but incredible sounding and alive in a sense that an inline 4 will never duplicate... not even Tamburini's engines provide the experience. The BMW makes you work hard to get the most of it, and for the street that means you are doing warp speed before you can even use 1/2 of what you paid for.

What you DO see is the Fireblade kicking *** and taking names.... that torque curve is magnificent. Best choice for street duty!

Winning dyno plots are far from the only thing that makes a motorcycle fast. There's gearing, there's confidence, there's braking, there's chassis, there's suspension, there's wheel weights, there's mass centralisation or lack of it, there's geometry, there's the whole package... and some bikes have it more than others.

That said, you know why the S1000RR and CBR 1000RR (last two gens) are so great? Because the original bada$$ is the 05/6 GSX-R and they were built to beat it... frankly as streetbikes, they didn't do the job, although the Honda came close.

Interestingly, that's the RSV4-R. And a '10 model. Not that it matters a whole lot, and it's incidental, but midrange is exactly where I said the Factory has a big advantage on its little sister. Also, I have three friends with crossplane R1s at the moment and my friend with the RSV4-R has beaten them at roll-ons many times. Now my bud with one of the R1s has done some kind of de-restricting ECU flash, exhaust work and airbox mod?; the tables have turned. Anecdotal.

FWIW, my modifed GSX-R wipes the floor with them, in an ugly way. And I'd still rather have a RSV4 Factory.

You are right, it doesn't matter much. Buy what you like.
Even the Honda is behind in the rollons though?

Wheel dyno measures hp and torque at the wheel. To be honest even that is questionable as the size, type and temp of the tire effects the number as does the way its strapped down, the position of the wheel on the drum, the temp of the engine and ambient temp and elevation, hell even the operator plays a part. Its simply a tuning tool.
The only true measure is the engine dyno taken right off the crankshaft in controlled enviroment.
This is also what makes hp regulated racing a joke. The nationals use a trailer mounted dyno at least Rob is the same guy doing all bikes. When I was racing MotoST we were also regulated (ironically measured using the Brooklin dyno and Rob). We were within 3lbs of min weight and 1hp off max. The Aprillias would fly by us like we were tied to a tree at Daytona. Not just us they also flew by the factory BMWs and big teams like Roadracing World all of who were right on the limits.
Everyone knew they were cheating using multiple maps, a simple flip of a hidden switch and badda bing instant illegal power. Point being wheel dynos are not a true measure.
