List top naked bikes for me!

You wont hear me argue that I don't want to ride a bike because it's got too much power or will get me into too much trouble too fast.

However, I do understand how some litre bikes are bears to ride too. Smaller bikes can run circles around big bikes and big bikes can blow little bikes away on longer sweepers and straights. What's the best combo for the street is really up to the rider. It's really a matter of taste, riding style and what you do on the street. Not one better than the other.

But, when is comes to what are the top naked bikes. I think this thread covers a lot of different makes and sizes.

that's my whole point... my whole argument here is that you can't say this bike is the best because of it's engine size!

anyways.... asked some KTM dealers around and looks like KTM will be doing a major revision for 2013 which will be the year i'm upgrading let's hope for the best... hopefully in 2013 a lot of other makes will do major redesigns as well!

cheers everyone!

VERY NICE CHOICES! i love both... Aprillia more though looks AWSOME!

But why have a fast bike if you have to go slow? As I explained earlier this is very frustrating... :)

A fast bike can go slow too, that's why there's a twisty throttle thingy on the right handlebar.

I don't mind if someone thinks X bike is enough and Z bike is too much, that's perfectly fine. I just don't like the flawed logic behind some of this thinking... namely the "you'll never use the power!" crowd. You use the additional power every time you twist the throttle, whether its 1% or 100%, as I explained earlier.

Carry on.

Because a more powerful and with bigger displacement bike goes much smoother and with less engine strain when it goes slow, and power is always there when you need it, you don't have to search for it like on smaller bikes. Therefore making it much more street friendly and smooth.

Why is this so complicated to understand?

Unless you ride a Honda Ruckus, this same theory can be applied to any bike. A 600SS does 270. Last I checked thats well above the limits too. So why do you ride at all then? You should be on a Vespa or in a Prius.

You don't always have to go slow, just pick the right time and place which is nowhere near the city. People drive cars that are more than capable of getting your liscence taken too but you couldn't get me to drive a car that gets up to highway speed just as I make the end of the on-ramp because THAT'S frustrating to me.

The more powerful the bike the more frustrating it is to ride slow. You use such a small percentage of it's potential that it is almost criminal.

I understand that you don't find any enjoyment in shifting gears or having to work at keeping the bike in a power band. I do. On a powerful bike you might as well be riding an automatic. Just stick it in one gear and twist the throttle. To me, boring.

Why do I ride? I don't know if I can express myself well enough to answer. I find a sense of contentment while riding a motorcycle that I find hard to duplicate. It has never been about top end speed. I like most riders have fallen into the must "upgrade" to a bigger bike trap. Been there. Did that. Was ok but I always end up "down grading" to a smaller displacement bikes. I find the smaller bikes give me a more visceral feel.

If I lived in the city I'd definitely have a scooter. Would be great for commuting to work.

Agree on the bigger cc the bike the more frustrating to ride in the real world. My best bike for everyday use and weekend jaunt is my CB-1 400. I4 of screaming joy at ~13000 rpm redline without fearing for my liscence. To move up i want a NT650 hawk, best looking naked bike in my eyes.

Because we ride to ride, not to prove anything. We ride in snow, rain, dirt and on any bike. Riding is never about the bike, its the rider.

I would stop riding altogether if I was in a situation where I couldn't own a fun modern, powerful and badass bike.

It's all about the machine, 100%. To me at least, but to each his own, live and let live I guess.

So because someone has a different view than you, he shouldn't be riding?

nice choices here everyone, it also needs to be said that the speed limits are the same for everyone and CC's don't matter on public roads
I too am looking for a sporty bike that dodges the dreaded sportbike 400% surcharge
what are the top 10 faves here on GTAmotorcycle.com?
should we start a poll?
thanks

Where did I say that?

You guys drew an imaginary line in the sand for "big" bikes being too powerful, but a 600 or 650 that will readily do 240+ km/h is kosher? So I really should be asking YOU the question you just asked me.

Just because you guys can't control yourselves with the extra power a big bike offers, it automatically makes more power a detriment. got it
