Because we ride to ride, not to prove anything. We ride in snow, rain, dirt and on any bike. Riding is never about the bike, its the rider.

Where did I say that?
You guys drew an imaginary line in the sand for "big" bikes being too powerful, but a 600 or 650 that will readily do 240+ km/h is kosher? So I really should be asking YOU the question you just asked me.
Just because you guys can't control yourselves with the extra power a big bike offers, it automatically makes more power a detriment. got it
I also said Vespa. And there was a whole part of that post you conveniently chose not to address.
So tell me again where the line in the sand is for what's "too much" and "detrimental", because your bike can easily go 200+ as well yet you seem to be keeping it off the tow trucks...
Maybe we should categorize it for folks to know when they have "too much".. shall we say 117.89 horsepower as the limit for reasonable use, and anything above is just too frustrating to ride? Or should we leave the limit around 80hp and say that buying a bike with more power than that is stupid because you'll never "use it all"

Hey guys Im offering up the keys to my sweet rides... you pick!
 I think I'll take the Civic... you know, because the 458 is just "too much" and I might get a speeding ticket if Im not careful
A more accurate comparison would be a Caterham 7 vs. a Ferrari 458... or maybe a Lotus Elise/Exige vs. 458.
I think I'd honestly rather have the Caterham or Exige. I'd definitely prefer the 7 or Exige if price were a factor.
I haven't tried any of these, but I think I'd find the Lotuses more fun in daily driving and in/around the speed limit. Also they're more elemental and lighter.
A Ferrari would beat me in a race, but I could live with that.
Anyways, this is a better and fairer comparison for an SV650 or a CB1 vs. an MV Brutale, Z1000, ...

(Didnt read through all 9 pages of the thread)
Good call.
Vanilla motorcycles. Underpowered, understyled, underperformers.
Honda even screwed up the new CB1000R. Its engine is derived from the previous generation Fireblade but it only puts down a paltry 108rwhp? What a joke. The sport-naked segment is growing and has a number of serious performance bikes in the roster... and that's what Honda comes up with to compete? Pfft.
Lol!
And in response to The Road Warrior, Yes it is a big bike! I was pushing it around the showroom today for pictures and couldnt believe how much heavier it was in comparison to the FZ8! Didnt catch if the guy was looking for his first bike or not but if it is a first bike then yes I would have to agree that its "It's 1000cc's of pure horror and danger, that will kill you even if you only think about it." lol
According to Yamaha, 467lbs for the FZ8 and 485 for the FZ1... hardly sounds like much of a difference.
