Re: Ever see a cop fly past you ....

Van Buskirk is out on bail pending appeal of his jail sentence. He’s been suspended from the Windsor Police Service without pay.

wow, impressive, most places give them a paid vacation

He was suspended, with pay, until his plea. Now that there's a verdict he can be suspended, without pay, pending dismissal.

Re: Ever see a cop fly past you ....

That makes sense, it would be pretty unfair to suspend without pay on allegations alone.

innocent until proven guilty.

Re: Ever see a cop fly past you ....

so if i can't show up and do my job my employer should pay me anyways?

That was my first reaction too, but then I realised it's not the cop that decided not to show up, it's the force that decided to suspend him. Frankly I think it's better that way as long as there is a legitimate question about the officer's ability to do his job.

It's not like any accused cops are gonna be in holiday party mode for all the months that their trial is underway.

What does being suspended with or without pay have anything to with getting drunk and running someone down outside of work?

Again, you can't just fire someone or stop paying them, regardless of their profession, until they've been proven guilty. Imagine the lawsuits otherwise.

that is fair but wouldn't it be great that if convicted they would have to repay the unearned pay if i remember correctly those 53 division drug cops collected their pay long enough to be challenging their charges on the base that it took to long to go to trial way to milk the system boys

you would be surprised how often it happens in the private sector.

I caught a cop sleeping like that. I knocked on the window... lucky I didn't get my head blown off.
