KTM's Parent Company Isn't Doing Hot, Shifting More Production to China and India

Nice! You'll love it!

If you ride often, stock up on Motorex. And filters...
Yes I have 100km on it and changed the oil twice already with Maxima break-in oil.I the spring after a few more kilometers I will switch to full synthetic.

A quick summary of the KTM Racing situation from David Emmett, (tied for the best MotoGP journalist with Mat Oxley):

KTM, Insolvency, And MotoGP - What We Know, And What Happens Next | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks

Well worth a read, though there's nothing definitive. KTM is adamant that operations will continue, but as he notes, that may be up to whomever administers the insolvency. One major thing to note, though, is that KTM appears to have halted development for the MotoGP bike, which could have profound consequences due to the development freeze in 2026 in preparation for the new 850cc spec in 2027. Basically, the motor they bring to Thailand in February is the motor they're stuck with for the next two seasons.

Bad news for those of us hoping for some glimmer of hope against Ducati hegemony, as Acosta on the KTM was probably the best odds to mount a serious title challenge outside of the Bologna bikes...

KTM, one of just five MotoGP manufacturers, have now paused development on their bikes a week after filing for insolvency, as per motorsport.com.

The Austrian brand has a reported debt of €3bn (£2.5bn) and is trying to avoid bankruptcy.

The news comes eight months after Liberty Media, the owners of F1, announced their mega money acquisition of MotoGP.

In BC, dealers here seem to gotten a massive incentive from the factory to move 2024 stock. My buddy just picked up an 890 Adventure R, (normal MSRP $17.5K) for $12.5K. This $5K trunk money seems to be across the board as multiple local dealers have slashed their prices by this amount:

Just perusing the ads in ON and QC, the incentive seems to be around $2k-$3K.

My buddy picked up one of those $12.5K 2024 890 Adventure R on a whim, knowing full well the warranty might not be worth the paper it's printed on next season, not to mention parts availability.

The price cuts keep coming. This time on the non-KTM Pierer Group marques.

$5K off 2024 Husqvarna Norden 901
$6K off 2024 MV Agusta Brutale

Damn. Wish I had more room in the garage!!!

Anything on the 300s I could be convinced for a decent discount

Not seeing any orange dirt bikes being discounted.

I think the vibe is that KTM will probably axe their street and ADV segments first before abandoning their core dirtbike business.
I'm seeing the same here was hoping for a big discount on a new 300 I guess not keep riding the old one for a few more years

I wonder how this effects their MotoGP teams? How much longer can they afford to stay let alone keep two teams alive.
Last thing I want to see is another manufacturer leaving or have limited resources to invest in a competitive bike.
My guess is they will be out RedBull might grow in a lot of cash, but no brand like to be affiliated with a losing proposition.

My guess is they will sacrifice price on the non KTM dirt bikes first.

Cutting KTM dirt bike prices could alienate core buyers as it also devalues bikes they own.
