KTM's Parent Company Isn't Doing Hot, Shifting More Production to China and India

I was wondering about that. I assume that means his wife told him to slow down with acquiring bikes for a bit.
You got it. I'm on the one in, one out plan now.

She doesn't know about the RD125, Jawa Californian and Bullet 500 hiding in my kid's garage up the street.

I don't think that article means anything. KTM is a complicated group of holding and operating companies, common stuff in Europe. At the end of the day when the top of the org chart fails, the whole chart comes down like a house of cards -- that's the concern of investors.

FWIW, if you're adventurous, can handle a rough trail, and have balls of steel the best KTM ride ever is on their SWX: PKTM.

Jump on the ride is hair-raising!

Someone once said, "At some point complexity in an organization becomes akin to corruption." They were talking about government, but it's appropriate here too.

Figures that the season I'm building a 890 Duke R track bike, they go out of business.

Track Niken retired? Or adding to the fleet?
Track Niken hasn't seen a lot of action in the last 2 years. I started racing with SOAR, and there's no racing class for a turbo tricycle. I did 2 seasons on a Husky supermoto, and this KTM will be next years' bike.

The turbo Niken should be up for sale shortly. I have already sold the street Niken; it went to a very nice gentleman from PA who took advantage of our weak dollar. All the same to me, I got what I wanted out of it.

I'd like to keep it, but my garage is too ^%$#ing full.

While the prices will undoubtedly be reduced, I have my doubts about the value. If a bike was previously 25K with a full warranty and no inkling of the manufacturer disappearing, what's the right price with a tail light warranty and possible resale value approaching zero? Imo, that's not a sale price they will accept. If I didn't want to pay 25 when KTM appeared healthy, the distressed price needs to be well below 15 (and probably in the ballpark of 10) for value to be an improvement over the base case imo.

I just bought a new 300 deal seemed really good but we will see how things shake out.

Murphy's law. This whole thing is your fault 😂
Nope. It's mine.

This past season I FINALLY resolved that my 1090R is actually the perfect modern motorcycle for my needs.

With the touring screen it's quiet, and combined with the lowered foot pegs and corbin seat it's full-day comfy. The handling is predictable in every situation, it has enough power, acceptable fuel mileage and plenty of range. It has enough tech and it isn't intrusive. It's been reliable, and I have no reason to believe that it won't continue to be the case, plus I'm comfortable working on it and am close to a good dealer. I have also accessorized to suit my day to day needs or trips of any duration.

So yeah, when else would a company dive head first into the crapper?

I just hope whichever Chinese or Indian corporation or combination thereof finally emerges as "savior" continues to make parts for a few years.

I l turned down a desperate callback offer last week on a KLR I looked at for my son 3 weeks ago.
