I'm OUT!

Has anyone told the OP about STD's or would that be just too cruel.

Oh you're going? I didn't even know you were here!

ZING!

Seriously, though:

We all ride for different reasons. My reasons don't mesh well with current laws and road hazards. I'm quite content with track only....three weekends at the track gives me more satisfaction than an entire season on the street. That's just me tho

I agree with dizzy, I enjoy my first track day so much, I learned a lot and its not just about going fast, I want to be more technical on my bike I want to take each corner as accurately as I can and as fast as I can. I plan on doing at least 5 to 6 track days next year and I might even go for a race license who knows. The street is fine and fun but I have got ******** in bmw's, challengers, etc passing me to close trying to race me and it pisses me off

Dont listen to all the haters, there are plenty of other exciting hobbies out there like bowling and collecting stamps hahaha

I sold my bike and I'm out of the scene. Please ride safe out there. Too many people dying lately!!

We all have to make difficult decisions at times. Best of luck and maybe one day you will get back into the scene. I believe that we are all infected with the love of riding and even if we are forced out that love never goes away.

Cheers!

farewell, and good luck in the rest of your endeavors. Slightly overly dramatic exit though.

Ditto to this^^^. Your life; your decision. People need to simply respect that.

My Gooodness! Some of you ignorant people, with your judgemental, condescending attitudes...makes me ashamed to ride a motorcycle sometimes. Hope to never meet some of you on the road.

+1 everyone has reasons for their choices, that's no reason to bash someone for quitting. **** I have been thinking about the same. Two young kids that depend on their father will do that to you. :)

Whatever you're comfortable with.

It's dangerous out there, but don't drink and drive, avoid squid like riding, don't take every curve at 10/10th speeds, ride intelligently and defensively and your risk of an accident, injury or death drops dramatically IMHO

Not sure why people are hating on the OP. This year is VERY bad for fatalities. I'm sure it's crossed everyone's mind. It's like 1 person or more is dying/severely injured every week in the GTA. Yes some fatalities are rider error but A LOT are caused by cars. Let's face it motorcycles aren't respected on the road. If the MTO cared there would be more education for drivers. When was the last time you saw an advertisement or commercial about road safety as far as motorcycles are concerned? Let's respect the decision of the OP.

I think this has been a bad summer for road fatalities everywhere in Ontario for all types of vehicles..... despite the OPPs best efforts to take all those racers off the road. Actually going by what they said a couple of summers ago, you'd think we'd have no accidents at all. However, it has been a very good summer (once it actually started)... hence we are seeing a ton of accidents. Dunno ... maybe I'm off base, but the OPP hasn't been tooting their horn after long weekends this year.

Good luck dude, you will always be satisfied if you take a decision than if you had that lingering feeling but never decided.

Some people here wonder why this is posted, maybe the author wanted to say goodbye to us, maybe his circumstances changed forcing him out, million maybes but the bottom line is that all he deserves from those who are interested are good wishes and a farewell. No matter what his motives are, he doesn't deserve this immature behavior from some of the members. If you have something good to add then say it otherwise, hold on to your attacks on his person. You never know what you will do one day when you are in his shoes. Peace.

Congrats for hanging the helmet up. If your head and heart are not into it, you shouldn't be riding. And it's just downright ridiculous how a lot of you just egg this guy on. He came on to make a post about quitting motorcycles because of danger we have on the highways. If anything this brings to light the people that do exactly this. Why do you have to wait for a tragic accident to happen to yourself before you realize the dangers that are associated with this ?. It's like playing Russian Roulette and having people tell you your a pussy because you pulled one trigger and realized the risks are not worth the reward. We all read what happens in the Fallen Riders section, and we all post RIP or GWS, but when someone decides they don't want to attempt to make it in that part of the forum it's all " OH YOU PU$$Y !!, grow a pair !, live your life !!. If anything I'm proud of you for being able to walk away from an enjoyable, yet dangerous way of life.

To stop exercising a hobby, no matter what it is, for whatever reason is one thing and that's all on your shoulders and doesn't affect me at all. I understand that you may have reasons that are greater than the rewards of risking your life on a motorcycle.
But to have an really lame signature like that is going too far.

You think you're the only one that has "too much to lose"?
As mentioned by someone else, every person that rides a motorcycle knows the risk that ANYTHING can happen, at ANY TIME. We know this.

Please don't shove your big bold red letters of self-importance down our throats.

You'll still read about crashes on cp24, because 1 out 3 drivers in Toronto never should have been given a licence in the first place.
To each his own i guess.
I'm in the opposite situation, had to put the bike away for a while and it's killing me!!!
I have sat twice on your bike over the past year, that is twice more than you

Next year is going to be my last year for motorcycling on the street going to covert my street to a track only. I moved to Mississauga and I'm commuting to Toronto everyday, QEW is to dangerous, to many people not paying attention on the road.
See this to me is the same as quitting riding. I have done track will continue doing track but riding is a lot more than going fast, or shaving seconds or taking the perfect line or the adrenaline feeling, to me riding is about been home and finding an excuse to go out so you can get on your bike and ride, go and get that extra Grande latte just because you want an excuse to get out and ride, to share a nice ride with your gr on a nice sunny day been 2up or each on their bike.

I will always ride street and if you quit because people are getting killed then good for you, I would never understand you or agree with you but whatever, its Ur life, me I would never be able to, I don't care if 2 out of every 3 get killed.

To me anyone that sales their bike or only does track was never a rider, but this is just my opinion

You said it.

I don't have the heart to tell the captain of our soccer team that on her weekly email letting us know the time and field of our games....she spells "you're" incorrectly every single time (uses "your" instead).
you should tell her/him, as someone that taught itself how to speak and write English, I do appreciate when someone corrects me as it helps me learn.

Couple days ago, there was a collision between an SUV and a pickup truck, on Hwy 10 south of Shelburne. At least one person was killed in the collision when the northbound SUV crossed the center line and hit the pickup truck head-on.

I was southbound and passed the scene maybe a minute after it happened. Could have been anyone. Bike related? Nope. I was in the cage, coming back from a job site.

Stuff can happen to ANYone. I'd rather live and enjoy what I do, rather than crawl into a cave for fear of going outside.

more or less how my father in law was killed.

OP watch out for getting old and smoking, i hear both are killers
