I thanked the Mayor, did you??

I can see a day 10-15 years from now when folks look around wondering what the F went wrong with the city, when someone digs up this priceless thread of people patting themselves on the back for saving $60 a year for vehicle registration.

This is got to be your most meaningless post out of all your meaningless posts.

By the way, typed from my HP pad....lol

I don't know. Miller came in and said he was going to clean house.
The next thing you know there is a scandal over office budgets.
Who are they investigating?
Holyday and Ford, for underspending.

Something radical has been done at City Hall.

Besides even my really left leaning friends voted for Ford, simply for the entertainment value.
He's had a definite uphill struggle all the way. I discussed his policies with some of the existing and future concillors before the election and that was their consensus at the time as well.

So far, he's done much with very little, in a short period of time. I can't say the same for the previous mayor.

Sent from my iPhone.

I don't think that he speaks like a buffoon that really matters and has people upset.

It's the lying when he's caught doing something he shouldn't that bother's people...

I'm waiting for him to punch some one out of anger and then deny it on camera as they play the clip of him punching some one.

He comes across as a coward and a bully

under Miller's reign I walked into the MTO to buy 2-year stickers for 3 cars and the bike....and the bill was $840....$390 of that went to Miller.....2 of the cars and the bike do crazy low annual mileage....less than the daily driver combined....so it wasn't peanuts and felt like I was being robbed especially since I live a short jog south of Steeles Ave

Miller would say that's the price to pay to live in a world-class city....OK fine....but in his world-class city where I was paying premiums I got screwed by the TTC walking out twice....and had to deliver my own garbage for nearly and entire summer

did ya go for a nice stroll through our beautiful parks during the garbage strike? because that's what 7 years under Miller's philosophies ultimately delivered

do you think any of the CUPE folks would dare go on strike under Ford??? I say bring that kinda philosophy on for good let alone 10-15 years

my perspective comes for living in the same North York house for 14 years....and for the first 2 years we were considered our own city with our own Mayor...garbage pick up twice per week (not gift wrapped like now) and street cleaners once per week, sidewalk plowing in winter before you'd even wake up in the morning and very low property taxes.....all that is gone now.....I pay an annual premium to have my garbage picked up once every 2 weeks....my property taxes are 50% higher now then they were 14 years ago....I have to shovel my sidewalk now...and I haven't seen a street cleaner in years

so you can have your opinion on where this new culture of adminstration will lead us 10-15 years from now...and I'll have my opinion

Yup and it may be worse than the last one....

Did anyone hear about the business card scandal?

Ford paid back $4,000?

Conflict of interest?

Why is that people who do not live in Toronto are the ones bitchin' about him the most???

Because he's an embarrassment to the whole GTA, province and country, together with other liers and goons, like McGuinty and Harris. I don't care whether they are lefty or righty, that has nothing to do with that.

He had a mouth full of vinegar during election and how he will show everyone else how to stop the gravvy train. The only thing he has shown so far is that he can be rude, his education is questionable, he can play it tough with unions, but he cannot do the same with police. Oh, he certainly can swear when making 911 calls. He certainly cannot cut the budget as he promised to do either.

Let's just say that I am glad he's not mine mayor. If he was I wouldn't move because of him, but I certainly wouldn't be sending him a letter to thank him, rather a letter to smarten up and start doing the right things without going around insulting everyone.

where is the waaaaaaambulance when you need it.

you are hard headed like turbodish but without the facts or reason or intelligence or looks :-) or anything substantial to add

Government should not be run like a private business.

Plastic bag tax was to encourage a more environmentally freindly re-usable bags and reduce land fill.

License stiker tax was to encourage public transit because traffic congestion is bad in Toronto.

Property tax 'mill rate' is lower in Toronto than surrounding areas. Encouraging what??? Lower income

Cut funding to Police???!!!

Cut funding to public transit???!!!

Privatization of garbage & public transit & police services???!!! WTF!!!

Unions are an important part of our economy. Privatization is wrong.
More than 25% of Canada's workforce is unionized
All the unionized workforce are middle class income earners.
Without unions in this country there would be two classes of people. Rich & poor
Country's that don't allow unions, have very small percentage of middle class.
Unions raise the barr for employment income. Without them, even non-unionized workers income will suffer.

Whether you like it or not, this system we've had for so many years has a good balance.
Now all of a sudden we've got someone coming into power that wants drastic changes.

I say :angry7:

The $.05 is a fee, not a tax. Every look at your receipt? You buy the bags and they are also taxed on top. Lovely isn't it?

What a farce. Miller imposed the vehicle tax because he is a devout car-hater and if he had ultimate power, he would've banned all private vehicles in Toronto and we'd all be forced to use public transit like happy little people. And his right hand man, that shyster Adam Giambrone was the head of the TTC who got rid of half the street parking on Dundas West because it supposedly interfered with his beloved streetcars. Only affect was fewer spots encouraging more illegal parking resulting in more parking ticket revenue. It was always a smoke-screen with Miller, policies masked with ulterior motives.

I forgot about that....that's another thing Ford's admin has done.....Dundas West got it's parking spots back didn't they?

Not sure if it was directly Ford's action, but after Giambrone got turfed, the new councillor of his ward immediately reinstated the parking spots that were there previously. All that BS for nothing except pissing off drivers and more parking ticket revenue.

nah, definitely not ford's doing. it was the local councillor. . .took her five years of fighting for it, but she got it done:
