For anyone looking for a contourHD...

I've been waiting for a deal like this. Ordered one. Just have to work up a mounting solution and perhaps power, for extended rides.
 
Well.. when I first saw this I was kindof excited as I have been shopping for a Gopro or alternative for the last little while.. seeing that I have a $100 gift card for best buy burning a hole in my pocket I figured this was the time.. Unfortunately I have actually done some research on the google machine and have come to find out that the contour is basically garbage. There own forum is FILLED with people complaining about the product and regretting ever buying it.. The issue is the audio. Wind noise is overwhelming for anything on a bike. Even contour themselves admitted that they really screwed up on the mic design and have no solutions.. Looks like I might have to go with the go pro...Very dissapointed as the $149 is an awesome deal..

Meh, tape over the mic with a bit of foam works to decrease wind. Got the GPS which is much better, very good up to about 80km/h under the 33 sensitivity, and now I adjusted it to 25 which works well up to 100, perfect for the city cruise. They improve every year....

If your someone just looking for "video evidence" u don't even don't care about the wind. If your going to spend around $300 for a go pro / camera, id say invest in the contour gps instead.
 
I have the same wind noise on the Contour as I did with the GOPRO (with the waterproof door attached). I couldn't figure out why the GOPRO was so noisy.

I went to Tiger Direct today and got a Patriot 8gb micro sd card for $17.99 and it works fine.
 
The GoPro is also quite noisy at highway speeds... Even with the waterproof casing. If your seriously about sound, just get a seperate device that records sound only and just join them together.
 
Most of the places I went to were sold out.... both FutureShop and BestBuy
Finally got one at Richmond Hill BestBuy.. the guy said I was lucky because the truck just arrived.
 
I got the last one at BestBuy at 403 and Dundas today in Oakville.
You can always just get it shipped. FutureShop has free shipping on orders of over $20 and you can return it at a store should you need to.
 
is the sticky mount easily removed? and if it is removed is it pretty much useless cause all the adhesive is gone?
 
I have been looking to get a contour camera for a while, I'm going to get the contour plus once the price comes down of course. It has an external jack for audio (vlogg with helmet mic?), HDMI out (with a transmitter you can even live stream to the web or recorder or screen, great for track days! Pit guys can watch how your doing! You might not want that if you suck). The video is vastly improved over everyone else. It has bluetooth to change camera settings from your iphone/ipodtouch/android phone using connect view!

The contour plus is the way to go, maybe get the contour HD for secondary cameras?

both cameras have bluetooth and can do this too!
 
I'm actually super split on what to do.. I have read alot of reviews on the internet.. most are not positive.. The contour plus is suppose to be Contours attempt at a redesign.. positive reviews but the unit is mad expensive. Sound for me is important... The wind noise video's suck.. Not sure whether to get the Contour and live with the problems... Guess I have to decide by tonight..
 
i got an email stating basically that as "as soon as the iten becomes available" it will be shipped. I ordered on Aug 2. You would think if it was half off they would have them in stock and ready to ship.
 
i bought one last night it said "one available" and once i was done it said sold out online...They better not dilly dally about the shipping as i want it for my Cuba trip in september.

Seeing as i had a 720P last season that i managed to drop off the bike i am fully aware of the noise issue and i have rectified it. I might just take it a step further and install a remove microphone jack.
 
I ordered one online yesterday around noon when it said there were two left so here's hoping one is on its way to me as we speak.

For those that have experience with these and have overcome the noise issues, what have you done? I can't stand watching videos with all that wind noise and figured I would just add a music track instead of the actual audio. However, if anyone has guidance on recording settings or other tricks to keep wind noise to a minimum I would appreciate the feedback.

Hey! if anyone want a contourHD PM me. Just pay me the price I paid for it at $170 from Bestbuy, you'll get the receipt as well. I just realized the contourHD isn't going to work for what I want it to do without a bit of work.

I live near Bayview and Highway 7. Just thought I offer some of you guys who weren't able to get one, otherwise I'll just return it to bestbuy.

Product is unopen. In case any of you are wondering, otherwise I won't be able to return it anyways.
