For anyone looking for a contourHD...

I was considering the 32 gb card, but there isn't really much point as I'll either download or delete the footage each time I go home, and the battery only lasts 2.5 hours. I would say an 8 gb card is probably sufficient, unless you get the 32 at a great price.

Recently just got a GoPro HD, might get this aswell and compare the footage and just use one in the car for "evidence".

What sucks is that it uses MicroSD... i bought a 32GB SD just for the GoPro too...

But if you go on a road trip, you will want more space since you will likely not have a laptop to dump the previous days footage. If you just want this for 'evidence' I would say 8gb would do as well.

Can you set these to re-record over the oldest video? or does it just stop when memory card is full?

I havent tried either of the 2 yet, but without a viewfinder, how can you be sure you have a good image until after your ride?

True point about going for a long ride, but the only way to charge your battery is via usb (unless they sell an accessory to plug it into the wall, which I cannot confirm or deny). Once the card is full it stops recording.

The Contour has 2 little laser beams when you turn it on (and you can re-activate by breifly pressing the power button). Whatever the lasers are on is the exact middle of your frame.
The GOPRO you just guess, but it has a fisheye look to the video and it quite wide.

Just put your helmet on infront of a mirror and note the angle of your lens. You'll have a pretty good idea if you need to adjust it or not. Then once you view your footage, you'll know for sure.

I got the 32GB (Kingston Ultimate X Class 10 G2) for about $60 Tax in from a $5 off special. I got the 32GB because i always carry around a external battery (Zagg Sparq) that uses USB to charge with me on trips. Charges my iphone 4 four times before dying and can probably charge the GoPro over 8 times...

No. There is only a setting that deletes everything on the card :(

i just do a couple trial runs around the house with the gopro on and see if i like the angle, when i find the right angle/position i turn the knobs tight enough so that it never moves from the position.

Get a Zagg Sparq my friend :)

Also, you can just use your standard wall socket > USB that comes with your ipod/iphone/ipad/itouch to charge the gopro.

It has a fisheye look to it because it has a wider angle. The fisheye effect is not really noticeable if you shoot on 1080p or 960p.

That's pretty cool! Thanks for the heads up! I would use it for my iPhone as well. I find myself constantly charging the thing. LOL I also didn't know that you can use the wall adapter for your iphone for the gopro.. wonder if it will work with the contour.. I'll check it out!

You missed out on a couple 50% off sales. And the wall socket > USB works for anything that charges via USB, Standard 5V USB.

I bought a sort of kit from the source which gives you a wall plug in usb charger and a cigarette lighter usb charger for like 15 bucks and it works wonderfully.

If you want to see what you'll be shooting, get the ContourGPS. I got it a couple of days ago and using its free app it streams the video via bluetooth to my Android phone (it doesn't stream while recording though). For an iPhone, I believe you have to buy a separate adapter for it.

Yes, for the I phone you need an adapter. $39.99. I love my Contour GPS so much. By this time next year, I hope the GPS version drops to $149-$199, I want another one.

I am borrowing my friends GoPro too now, same view, unedited footage (videos look good touched up from both cams but I want to see raw footage), and doing a comparison for my self because of so many people are bias to what they own, so i can see for my self, quality and functionality.

I've always liked the Contour better than the GoPro. Now that the price has dropped I want the GPS which can stream video to a phone, which is still expensive. Maybe I should just get the HD while the price is low. lol

SD cards have tons of uses, so it's unlikely that it will be wasted. I have two still cameras that use SD cards and my Earthmate GPS uses one as well.

For MicroSD you can always get an adapter that will make it work as a full-size SD card. If you have devices that use both, getting MicroSDs may be the way to go.

Doubt i'll have much use for the SD card other then the GoPro. I already have another 32GB for my camera. MicroSD's are more expensive for the same size, and slower i believe.

just bought one at labovic and comstock Future shop they only had 1 or 2 left for the $149.99 and its was $299.99 for gps version. They are switching to micro as they are cheaper to buy and most come with adapter so you have both sizes. 16g is $49 at future shop but i'm sure alot cheaper elsewhere.

The Contour GPS is $120 off MSRP at Future Shop also. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...5a01c320fben02

I actually got mine in January for $280 and change, through a hook up though* - this is still a good buy from future shop but honestly, for a first or second camera for some the 1080 is great, and I would buy one but I am already borrowing my friends go pro so dont need a second camera.

Didn't get hooked up with a memory card though, ended up getting mine at best buy (it's actually meant for a phone and the guy said it might not work I paid 29.99 on sale and it is a 16gb) It worked. I did buy a kingston 16gb too for $60 just incase but I returned that right away when the $30 one worked (no issues with recording at all)

I know, it's just it's about the regular price of the HD, which I considered high. Oh well, I just bought the HD at the half price deal (online with in-store pickup).
