Civic vs. 600

I know 2 people that own, and drive Skylines as their daily rides during the summer. Drive to work every day.

Both imported from Japan, licensed and insured in Canada.

Saw one today, in the parking lot at the Pen Centre in Saint Catharines.
Right hand drive, some chick was driving it.

I saw about 4 or 5 Skyline R32s at Commerce Gate a couple of weekends ago, all at the same time.. I think it must have been some club meet up or something.

My first contribution to the thread-that-never-dies. :)

i think this thread should be deleted it contributed nothing to the site. last time i checked this wasn't the toronto civic club.

I read the first 3 pages of this thread and then gave up reading. Can someone PLEASE tell me the outcome of this?? I have a CRAZY fast R1 and I have spray too. I'd be curious if he thinks he can beat me too? I still dont want to open my mouth too much, cause there ARE some crazy fast civics out there (why I dont know though). I've yet to see ANY civic beat a good 600 with a good rider (good = r6, cbr rr, and rider who KNOWS how to ride and launch). The unfortunate thing is that sometimes these guys in there front wheel drive jap specials, get beside some dummy on his katana or cbr f3 and then run him while he is still in top gear. Then we hear about how fast there rice machine is for the next year. I'd be curious to see how this pans out. If he's still around, I'd be game for lining up with my 230 hp R1?

Ken is this you? if this is my bud Ken I would LOVE to see this lil civic even attempt to come within 3 cars of this bike

none of this discussion matters, cause Ben Johnson can demolish anything on 2 or 4 wheels just by sprinting...remember, he likes to cheetah!

wow, 31 pages. for real.

anyways, i think its nice and all that you can make a civic go really really fast. i drive a civic and i do love the little thing, but after coming back from germany on the unlimited autobahns with a merc C class, its amazing the difference between a car that was designed to go fast, and one that was upgraded to go fast. this thing would cruise at 200km/h and feel like my honda does at 100.
the difference is everything in the car needs to be designed to go fast, not just the motor and tranny.

Holy, what a long post...I had a friend with a NA 95 Integra GSR that would beat most 600's. Was a fantastic car, built like it was a race car for a competetive team.

Witht he 30-40 he spilled into it, I personally would have gone with a more luxurious ride and a bike on the side.

See a couple of Skylines up at Richmond Hill. If i had one, I wouldn't race it on the streets for sure.

I call B***SH** a NA GSR that would take our a R6,600RR,GIXX6 come on now

Not when there is nothing GSR left on the car :P...
New bottom-end built from the ground up, no more 1.8.
Custom top end with the entire valve train redone. Custom designed exhaust.
ITB's, as far as I know he could never get the idle right after them.
Standalone.
Basically, he redid the car ground up. I remember being the passenger and he hit 274 pretty quickly.
This was 6-7 years ago, as far as I know he turned the car into a turbo
since the bottom end was designed to handle stupid amounts of boost,
but after that I think he ripped it apart and got rid of it all.

Actually this was a while back so I could be remembering wrong, he wasnt beating bikes, he was even territory.

Must see it to believe it, he had a pretty bad *** Camry too, that was a work of art.

Many people at least know of this guy.

I'm sure it was fast, I know a few guys who have worked the NA on civics with B18 swaps and a few guys with RSX's (K20) but even they cant take a bike. you feel like your flying in those cars tho but when your running a bike it's a whole new world. those cars just dont have the torque needed to push..oops pull lol the car fast enough. Everyone has seen skylines and supras race and sometimes win a race against bikes but even those cars have a really hard time doing it, and those cars own the street

Power to Weight Ratio Peoples.... What's all this discussion about. It's all in the math. Pretty simple. 360lbs, 130hp vs 2800lbs, maybe 400hp, Not even close...

there are boatload of ricer tuner car things around here that will take a 600 in the quarter.

relax, sportbikes are terrible drag strip machines, they would be made entirely different if straight line prowess was what they were after.

who cares?

Could you please name a few other than a supra, skyline or possibly a rx7 ? this case is about a GSR which is an integra which is a civic which is not able to beat a bike. It CAN be a fast car but able to beat a bike not likely at all

you're not talking about Tony the tiger are you?

I think he is...i know that car as well. There was no way he could beat 600cc ss bikes from a stop or roll back when it was N/A, i dont know where hes getting his info from...

True, it was a 2.0l, high compression, w/toda cams and ITB's. It was a fast car no doubt about it but it was no 600cc ss killer, thats for sure.
