Cagers and how they drive.

Some intersections are also dumber with one side getting an advanced green regardless of traffic. They could also be handing out advanced greens based on time (although in the middle of the night, advanced green makes very little sense to me in most situations).
Speaking of this, they still are no good at sensing bikes. I've been stuck a few times waiting and the light won't change.

1 time I just gave up and went through the red as no other car was coming to help trigger the lights.

And then this other wierd situation happens, maybe because my bike looks like a cop bike, I'll be first in the lane waiting, then if a car comes behind me it stays well back (I dunno why), so it's not on the pad, I try to creep forward hopefully to get them to move ahead on the pad. Even happened if I am not in the left turn lane, just waiting to go straight through. Had this car come into left turn lane, but not fully foreward, so again not all on the pad... I was like why I am surrounded by dumb....had to do the creep ahead, look at the car, look at the spot where they should be, etc. etc. then finally...sheesh..

If I am the only one around I always slow roll the coil dragging the centre stand and normally to stop in it. If a vehicle comes up behind me I'll pull forward.

Is it 311 or something you're supposed to call to get them to fix the sensor?

Careful running that red, it’s not going to be a fun ticket if you get caught.

I typically right turn then U turn. If that isn’t possible I’ll back track and avoid it during low traffic periods.

Give it a bit longer. This problem's gonna get solved with automation then the only ppl driving will be on a race track (aka. the ppl who actually want to learn and get better, and have money.)

I think automation is far cheaper than educating everyone to drive properly. Not like the vast majority of operators want to get better at driving or riding.

Sort of. The intersection is usually set for two or three cars turning (or more), but it does not sense or count all the cars, instead it just senses the second or third car (or could be more for really busy streets). So a solo car can just sit back in the second or third spot with no one in front and trigger the advanced green. You can see the cutouts for the loops in the pavement to see where it is "looking" and then sit on the last one or straddle the last two when solo....

I do that daily turning off Derry (east) to Guelph Line (south). The second pad triggers the advance. Conversely, if there's someone already there on the first pad I hustle up and onto the second pad to trigger it before the Guelph Line light turns from green to yellow (that's the trigger to cancel the pads' inputs).

And the lights at Bronte and Steeles are possessed (It's a T intersection). Eastbound on Steeles the light will turn straight to red from green, then 5 seconds later change back to green again.

I didn't read anything after the first page of this thread but I've been riding my first BMW for a month now and I'm on a BMW talk group and find about 50% of the people in the group douchy compared to the other makes that I'm a part of where most are awesome. There's truth in the BMW stereotype I guess (me not included of course and I still use my signals!).

Did I miss something? What did you get?

Put me down as another filthy signaller, on both vehicles!

OK I missed something, is there a problem with using signals? I use mine all the time, thought this would be better for bike to get noticed etc.. and be a considerate driver/rider overall?

Running joke;

BMW owners never signal, so the most useless job ever was hiring someone to install them at the factory.

Yrs ago, at the auto assembly plant, the bulb(s) installation job was usually given to the dudes who were illiterate. Every unit was identical, so there was no need to read the broadcast sheet.
One amber, two clear.....two clear, one amber..... day in, day out.

i think you mean call to rant about things. we have a streetlight out at my work where we have heavy industrial vehicles going in and out.
leaves a completely dark spot on the sidewalk which makes it impossible to see pedestrians at night.
been half a year since we reported it, tried contacting local MPs, nada.

this x1000. there are douchbag drivers that know what they are doing is wrong and choose to endanger others and be selfish ******** (bmw drivers, etc). but the vast majority are people that literally just drive to get from A and B and don't know any better or care to be better drivers.

better drivers ed and licensing might have solved this but you're right that automation will come before NA govts ever do anything about that.
