Much of the money that he's claiming to save is either projected on to future assumed spending, or 'reducing the increases' to the budgets while he's been in office.

His office budget is 1 million less than Miller. Million bucks goes a long way.

Hands down, Ford is a baffoon. He doesn't think before he speaks. He indulges on the personal side too much maybe because of the stress of his jobs... we know that so many people in high profile and stressful jobs do these type of things. It's common on wall street and bay street. Dude atleast doesn't BS people. He finds something bad he speaks out against it. He isn't political about it. He calls it as he sees it. He has principalistic. He is against people using the government to do things for personal interest or having large budgets to do things you can do on normal budgets. He didn't make any deals with unions or the elites. For that reason, If I still lived in Toronto, I would've voted for him.

In Richmond Hill, they just put in a tax for storm drain maintenance... just stupid as hell.

Dude.. Reality check for you.. When the initial report of a video with him smoking crack came out he kept denying it to high heavens and claiming it was part of a left-wing media witch hunt. When the police confirmed it, he said "Oh, I didn't lie, you guys just didn't ask me the right question" If that ain't bovine excrement, I dunno what is. Just because he's a buffoon doesn't mean he isn't a BS-artist. Just because he did better than Miller and Lastman, doesn't mean we shouldn't be asking for someone better. The bar that the other 2 guys set was pretty low.

Yeah, I remember when scandal chased Clinton out. They elected someone "better." I wonder how that turned out.

If you look at the current council none of them look like they deserve to be the mayor. They aren't better than Ford. If it was any of them getting the crack they would've probably used the city's money to buy it.

Unbelievable. You're only 100% wrong.

Ford uses his own million bucks instead of the city's. And a million bucks saved for the city will get you 1/500th of a rehabilitated Gardiner expressway. Where are the other 500 things he's saved? Go ahead, tell us his BS about a billion dollars saved.

He's spewed BS since he learned how to poop, who do you think you're kidding? Besides, it's not as if Miller was a BSer anyways. He spoke hard truths whenever he had to, from DVP toll fees unless the city got new revenue tools, to gun bans, to whatever. You might not like what he said, but that just makes it that much more impressive that he said it openly and honestly. Rob Ford is open and honest? The same guy that tells reporters "It's none of your business what goes on in my office"!!!

Against using government for his personal interest or doing things on large budgets? Holy crap man. His Scarborough subway will cost Toronto an extra billion dollars, only to save his beloved suburban voters from having to change trains at Kennedy. And he relied on some $600 million additional support from the federal government to make it happen. The LRT would have suited their needs entirely, and was PAID FOR.

The only reason he wasn't involved in graft (that we know of), is because he's stupid enough to believe all those anti-establishment slogans "respect for taxpayers" and "stop the gravy train" that shills in the Sun and talk radio have hammered into his thin skull.

As for you leaving Toronto, good riddance. We'll send Rob to your municipality when we're done with him here.

OK you obviously have zero idea what you're talking about.

Those declarations from staff were made to the police as part of their criminal investigation of Ford's dealer. None of them went to the media. None of them knew what the other was saying, and none of their statements taken on their own would amount to anything as scandalous as the whole picture it paints of the mayor.

Have you looked at who those former staffers are and what they had already supported him through? Imagine if you had carried water for a politician, for a couple of years, and then found out that he'd been lying to you too.

I dunno much about Lastman, but between Miller and Ford it's not even a contest. Miller's accomplishments are like an ancient pyramid next to Rob's sand castle.

Miller:
Stopped the airport bridge (as he campaigned to do)
Obtained new powers for the city to raise revenues (as he campaigned to do)
Increased revenues through LTT and VRT (avoiding the DVP toll that was his plan B)
Implemented 'priority neighbourhoods' for areas of the city in greater need of attention (almost all suburban)
Hammered out a fully funded plan for Transit City (which benefitted primarily the suburbs)
Implemented the 24-hr 311 assistance line for city services
Invested significantly in the development of the waterfront and port lands
Won the Pan Am games (the benefits of which are been accrued under Ford's term)
Implemented the lobbyist registry
Doubled residential waste diversion rate from landfill
Appointed the city's first integrity commissioner (the guy Rob ignored that almost got him kicked out of office)
Restructured city hall bureaucracy to make it more accessible (and saving $600000 a year)
Implemented a civic engagement training program
Initiated the tmmis website for public access to city records

Ford:
Negotiated new union contracts, saving $11 million per year
Made the TTC an essential service
