I'm not supporting ROFOs antics but he's got to be pretty strong in some areas to get that far. I think we all know some very bright people who lack a few key ingredients to push themselves to the heights they so desperately desire. Of course those failings aren't on public display.

I've had some bosses who were largely successful because they possessed a certain....... moral flexibility, that I don't.

After having seen the Kimmel spot, he was a pretty good sport about it.

Not the train wreck I was expecting. Just on the edge, well balanced by Kimmel. Rob and Doug were reported to be a bit upset afterwards, thinking that Kimmel was harder on him than they expected. But Kimmel's opening questions to Rob were spot on. To the effect, "Have you ever watched my show? What good can come of this?"

Didn't watch it (Have it PVR'd) - So honest opinions (if that is possible) was it a mistake or not for him to show up in there?

Daily and Colbert are the only shows of the talk show variety that I watch.

Ford is a celebrity for doing stupid things. (The reason Kimmel asked him to be on his show is not because he is toronto's greatest major and has saved the city a billion dollars, is it?) Is it wise to flaunt that?

Like Kimmel said, "What possible good can come from it?" In this case I think that it was a net zero.

Yes, a big mistake. Kimmel is not a nice guy who wants to be BFF with Ford. Kimmel cares about his ratings and nothing else.

Kimmel cannot be that mean, 'cause then it backfires on him and his show. Kimmel had to meausre his responses and his tone. But the whole idea was to (as I already said it) hang up Ford from a meat hook and use him as a punching bag for a couple of rounds.

Look at the headlines... ouch!

You know the headlines were always going to say something similar, not sure many people will read something that says "Ford did a good job" they will most likely wan to read "Ford once again embarrassed Toronto"

"Kimmel can not be that mean"? do you watch his show? lol

I would be more worried if he was going to see the Daily show with john Steward, Kimmel is a joke.

I will have to watch it tonight, I hear some people saying here at work that he did a good job, others in the elevator said he once again embarrassed Toronto, I guess each one of us have to form our own opinion according to our bias.

I did watch the entire interview not just the first part you posted above.

here is my honest opinion

- What he did the previous night with the little parody about being a day early was ridiculous
- The piece when they went to the screen and started showing his videos was stupid, he should have never allowed that
- I think he carried himself properly and didn't say anything stupid
- He kept trying to bring the topic back to the Business of Running Toronto which is the right thing.

Overall I think he did well and the American public got the chance to see more than what the talk shows were portraying on a 3 second punch line

Ok, if that would be the only objective then he certainly passed the test this time around (surprising, but it happened).

But seriously, this could not be the only thing what anyone would hope for. How is it relevant what the American public thought of him before the show and what they think of him now. It will certainly not make Hollywood to book more floor time in Toronto studios (one could argue the opposite) and it will certainly not buy him any local votes in Toronto where the elections will take place (or what's the connection I am missing).

I heard him blabbing something about him delivering the message on the show that he saved taxpayers money .... I am not sure how many people believe him outside of his family and core supporters anymore. Objective people recognize that he saved some money, but they also know that he has cut some services as well and hired all kinds of questionable characters etc.

On the news today: oversight of project brazen handed over to OPP to minimize the perception of bias against Ford by chief Blair, in the event the case goes to court. :rolleyes:
