Bye Bye Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Violence is not always the answer.

These folks would not have stayed home crying and would not have responded well to violence. Many came from a country that had a 25 years long civil war. They wouldn't have been intimidated by some donut eaters. Desperate times, desperate people.

The solution that was chosen by the administration was to minimize chaos.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

So anytime anything happens in another country that affects one ethnicity they should go on 401 and shut it down? There are ways to protest and demonstrate. This is not one way. All they did was piss off people. Also using women and children as shields? Perfect example. I think Ukranians should do that now.

They should have arrested all organizers.

We respect you and your culture/values. We support your countries through aid and all help we can give, but this is Canada. Respect Canada and Canadian law first.

If they had arrested the organizers, then odds are that they would have been arresting members of a listed terrorist entity:

http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/ntnl-scrt/cntr-trrrsm/lstd-ntts/crrnt-lstd-ntts-eng.aspx#2038

One group should not be permitted to cause this sort of problem, for an entire city of others, when the issue that sparked it is a world away. Making others angry does nothing but make voters raise their voices in anger to their elected officials, which works against the idea of obtaining government help for their cause.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

I Would lose it if this Ukrainian protest or any ethnic group interfere with my daily life. That's your problem not mine. Yeh I'm selfish!

Sent from my tablet using my paws

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

That happens every day and you don't even think about it.. No shopping on Sunday because of Christians, no vote for women just because, Indians penned up on reservations because they lost, massive head tax for Chinese because why not?

List goes on. If it doesn't affect you directly then you usually don't think about it. Doesn't make it less legitimate for the people feeling it.

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

I was pretty sure that there weren't, but not completely certain.

fair enough, I wasn't there so cant give a first hand account, just relying on the ctv news report that reported several were arrested, doesn't say what for so could be for anything.

under "tamil protest shut down gardiner" in youtube at 1 min, wont copy and paste.

Like Kimmel said, "What possible good can come from it?" In this case I think that it was a net zero.

Ouch.

But the guy doesn't help himself, so it is hard to feel sorry for Ford, he was out drinking on Saturday night for St. Patrick day?? Again?? Doesn't he know any better?

But enough of Ford. Someone please start a thread on Olivia Chow.

Calling Jimmy Kimmel "smarter one" shows the lack of intelligence of the person making the comment. Rob runs a city, Jimmy runs a show, let's not forget "The Man Show"

But what the hell, stupid comments get on the news and gets people talking like we are here

Rob Ford is in no way running a city.
That is subject to debate, but let's concede the point, He was until a few short weeks ago.

Bill Clinton ran a country, the fact he doesn't anymore doesn't mean he didn't have the intelligence to not only get elected but to run it for a period of time, regardless most Republicans would say he did a bad job.

Once again, even your comment was a punch line without substance, just like many comments people make in this thread.

My comment has no substance?

It is the truth. Even before he got stripped of his powers his own staff was concerned about his absences and his drug and alcohol abuse on and off the job. The email records show it was a co-ordinated effort by his staff to try and make him appear somewhat functional. The city functioned despite Rob Ford not because of him. Just look at his voting record at City Hall. He voted against almost every single issue brought forth by council. The guy voted against his own budget. You can't be a leader by being against everything and fighting with everyone on every issue.

You honestly think a politician who lies every chance he gets and only talks in pre-rehearsed sound bites is someone you want to support? Rob Ford has cut services and will have raised taxes and committed the city from a paid for transit plan that served many more people to a 3 stop stubway that will saddle the city with tax increases for 30 years. Its not even the transit line the city needs the most according to experts which is a relief line. Its a joke just as his policies. Look at his proposals in his campaign. He has no way of paying for any of it. He wants to get credit for giving people things and then fights when the bill comes that we shouldn't have to raise taxes. Ford promised private money to pay for the subway. Where is it?

I would love for you to explain how you can support Rob Ford. The city deserves better.

Ford has taken it to a new robotic level. Asked any question its the same one of 5 phrases (most of which are proven lies) even if the answer has nothing to do with the question. Whenever Robbie boy goes off script he gets himself in trouble so his handles must be all over him to just parrot the lines he is given.

"I was elected by the highest amount of any mayor"
"Toronto had the lowest tax increase of any city in NA"

Just the first page of aprox 120 - I will take this as a sample since I do not have the time to check all your "Turbo Facts"

7 no and 43 yes out of 50 votes

I would think people will check the information they provide as back up to their views

By the way, what he voted against in regards to his budget, was the amendments put in by council is my understanding, but i might be wrong

Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!

Just the first page of aprox 120 - I will take this as a sample since I do not have the time to check all your "Turbo Facts"

7 no and 43 yes out of 50 votes

To save time, do you have the totals?
Arguing over one page of results (out of 120 pages) does not make any sense.

Also, make note that Rob Ford is now taking credit over items that he voted against, and maybe that's what AdRath meant.

Rob Ford voted against several of his listed "accomplishments"

By Matt Elliott

Rob Ford's website has now a "TOP ACCOMPLISHMENTS LIST" that plays very loose with the facts. So loose, there’s no choice but to do an exhaustive fact check on every single item — my biggest fact check ever.

The following are the list of accomplishments taken off Ford’s website on Monday, March 3. Don’t blame me for the weird capitalization — it was like that when I got there.

At least six of the mayor’s accomplishments relate to things that Ford actually voted against, either as mayor or as councillor.

Here’s the list:

Introduced a Customer Service Reception Desk in City Hall
I can’t find any record of Ford bringing an item to council to create this desk, but there does seem to be a desk near the entrance of city hall where people can ask questions.

Made Nathan Phillips Square Safe and Inviting for Citizens
Ford may be referring to one of two things here. Either this is about a Sue Ann Levy column that complained about too many homeless people in the square, which prompted Ford to complain to the city manager and apparently step up enforcement. Or it’s about the Nathan Phillips Square Revitalization project.

If it’s about the latter, Ford doesn’t have much room to brag. The project began long before Ford became mayor and in 2007 he voted against it. (Page 95) Later, as council debated the 2009 capital budget, Ford moved to remove all funding for the project. (Page 6)

Improving Communication with the City through 311 and mobile apps
311 was a project of the previous administration. Ford was against it. On December 8, 2009, Ford moved to eliminate all funding for plans to implement it.

Improving TTC service
On January 10, 2011, Ford announced his first budget would cut service on dozens of TTC routes. Since then, the fare subsidy for the TTC remains below 2010 levels and the system is wracked widely-reported instances of crowding.

Made TTC an Essential Service
Yep.

Improving Toronto EMS and Toronto Fire Services
Too vague to verify.

etc.
etc.
etc.
etc.
etc,
