Re: BY By Tommy boy Ford kicked out!!
Your local MP is meaningless, unless he or she ends up in Cabinet. Even then, Harper has shown that only his opinions matter.
Being a strong leader doesn't disqualify you as being a good leader (and I'm not saying he is or isn't...)
As far as I know we aren't currently in a run up to a Federal election, though the Conservatives seem to be spending an awful lot of time campaigning. With our money.
Actually, our Fed election isn't that far away and Justine is running around doing pretty much the same already. Furthermore, isn't at least some of the "campaigning" paid for through donations to the party, not out of the public coffers? Even if it is out the public coffers, any gubment spends money attempting to convince their chattel that they are doing a good job. Neither the Libs nor the NDP would be any different.
Voting Rhino, or running as a Rhino, is a protest. More than a decade ago Elections Canada recommended that the option of formally declining your ballot, as a form of voter protest, should be permitted at the Federal level. To date no one in government has even deigned to comment on that.
Which means its still pointless to do so because currently it is throwing your vote away.
Our fine American friends are learning a lot but our Fededral Conservatives have also learnt a lot from the American Republicans, like spending like drunken sailors on leave and rabidly partisan (and misleading) politics. I want real fiscal conservatives as an option; not neo-cons. When the Liberals are better stewards of the public purse than are the Conservatives, there's a serious issue.
But the Libs aren't/haven't done any better at managing the public purse (Provincial non-existent power plants anybody? this is just one example).
Even leaving aside the massive spending spree that the conservatives went on, when they took government,
But isn't this what the sheep actually want (but not actually need....)?
the banking reforms that they had been pushing before taking office would have ruined this country.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda. If they didn't ruin it we can't imply fault that they "could" have.
Now they crow about what a good job they've done on the economy, when the vast majority of what they take credit for was actually performed by the Liberals.
Just like Obama blaming bush for 2014 problems, after almost 8 years in power I highly doubt we can claim it was the Libs who are the architect of our "so-called" fine economy. Of course if the economy tanks it's all the Con's fault right?
People have to stop throwing around words like "liberal" as if they're a curse and look at the real underlying politics. Stop using political shorthand and dig deep.
I agree. But since the party is actually called the Liberals that's the tag we have.
The whole system is broken, both up here and in the US.
Obama is shredding the constitution and the Pub's just sit back and say what can they do about it.
People blame the Cons for being to centered and the libs are lost in space back in the 80's with their social engineering "we know better than you about what you need BS". Add the Dippers and there truly isn't anybody to vote for.
But since it will be 1 of the 3, I'll be sure to cast my vote for one of them.
