Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been named in a statement of claim alleging he was behind a 2012 jailhouse assault, Ford’s lawyer confirmed Wednesday.
Lawyer Dennis Morris told reporters at city hall that Scott MacIntyre, the ex-partner of Ford’s sister Kathy, has filed a statement of claim alleging Ford was behind an attack that took place at the Toronto West Detention Centre in March 2012.
According to a Globe and Mail article in which MacIntyre was interviewed, the lawsuit alleges the violent attack that left MacIntyre with a broken leg was intended to keep him quiet about Ford’s apparent substance abuse problems.

Don Bosco player, known to Ford and now featuring the alleged twist that guards had disabled cameras so there was no video evidence........

The difference between the mayor’s preferred 1.75% hike and the rate city council approved is on average $12 a year on average.
Rob and Doug are trying to claim taxpayers are being robbed blind over $1 per month.
But it gets better:
Multiply the assessed value of your home by the mil rate and that's what you owe in municipal taxes. The modest income earner and owner of a lower-valued home might only owe an extra $0.25 next year while a millionaire might have to pay an extra $100, all of which averages out to $12.

The lawsuit initiated by the brother-in-law comes at the worst time for Ford (it is very strategic, really). As Ford ramps up to start campaigning for re-election, dear brother-in-law will be leaking information (dirt) about Ford every week.
Daniel Dale sued Ford, and pretty much all he wanted was an apology.
In this case, the lawsuit is much more personal.
One way Ford has to make it go away is to settle out of court. I think the guy is asking for $1 million x 3 (because there are three named defendant) plus $100,000 x 3, plus $100,000 from the Ministry? Ford could pay all that from his pocket so the lawsuit is dropped.

Just because someone has a personal value measured in millions of dollars, that doesn't mean that they have easy access to millions of dollars. Very little is held in liquid assets.

Well, it is an option.
Either get the money and settle out of court.... or he can go to court, and fight it out there, all his dirty laundry exposed to the world, just in time for the election.

In the next episode of THE MAYOR, the Mayor flees to the other side of the country ostensibly to attend a funeral but the full force of law and order is brought to bear upon him as he is ticketed for jaywalking on a red light. Wracked with despair, he goes to a nightclub in Coquitlam and dances because life goes on, even in death.

I think that Fox optioned it but they had to tone it down for network television, so they called it "Rake" instead.
Hey, jaywalking is a crime too. If they would ticket more people for it in Toronto, there might not be quite as many dead pedestrians.

Global BC news report. Watch the video. RCMP will not comment if a citation for public intoxication was issued, but a person on scene who spoke with Ford claims that Ford said that he f'ed up and is being ticketed for j-walking and public intoxication.
