Bye bye JT….

Electing Carney gets us a seat at the table where decisions are made.
What you have not figured out is that they don't work for US, they work for themselves.

So getting that seat just opens US up for more abuse and less accountability. That's all. It's not the win you seem to think it is.
I see the liberals having committed too much politics for the "ME", for "self actualization" and I think we need more government for the us (all Canadians) as a group.
And yet you want to hire a greasy banker that has worked for Goldman-Sachs, a company that was called "the vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity." That's some impressive double-think.
I'm not looking for a government that "props" me up, I'm looking for a government that allows ME to be all the ME I can be (if I want).
Except that Carney is all-in on doing exactly the opposite of that. He has ALREADY banned journalists from his events which he felt weren't going to give him stunning reviews and he hasn't even been voted for by anyone. He and Freeland both have spoken well of Bill C-63 and if you read his book, he says that freedoms must be curtailed to fight against "climate change."

So again, I say to you: you apparently don't know who this guy is at all.

If you follow my posts in "51st State" you'll see that I think our elected leaders don't really represent us or run our countries.
Our countries ARE run by the "elites"
Electing Carney gets us a spot on the menu at the table where decisions are made.

FTFY

Anarchist my ass.

That ship has sailed. Carney serves a different master now. PP has said if you're in the WEF you are no longer a sitting Conservative MP. Full stop.

Wait, didn't Trump just speak at the WEF?

-all politicians work for themselves.
-not sure about the context of the quote about GS, I can't even say I know that much about GS but I'm sure that they would only hire those who not only know that budgets don't balance themselves but the best of the best.
-I have not read Carney's book. Have you? Where does he say that?

So did Javier Milei. Didn't see him waving blue and white pom-poms while he was speaking to lecturing them.
No idea who Javier Milei is.

Was kind of trolling.

other then maybe the international scale of it, what is the difference between WEF and any-other lobbyist group/event where a bunch of likeminded powerful people meet and try to progress their agenda?

WEF and WHO seem to be more successful at pushing agendas than many other groups.

If i'm not mistaken, I think trump gave the WHO a middle finger salute a couple days ago as well
He did but like much of his bluster, I don't know if that sticks or if it gets wound back very shortly (possibly with fines/concessions attached to put USA in a worse place than it started).

Will ten new Liberal Senators make a difference in the future?

Wait, didn't Trump just speak at the WEF?
Where he proceeded to insult them and tell them to step off his lawn. Granted, I didn't watch the whole speech.

The vampire squid reference came from a Rolling Stone article on Goldman-Sachs and the other banks that were involved in the 2007 liquidity crash. Anyone that can work for those companies and invest billions of dollars in rental properties on an industrialised basis, which he did for Brookfield, is not your friend. But like other people who vote Liberal, if he's on your team, I guess you can overlook the fact that he has no intention to do anything at all that will benefit you.

Meet in the middle?

don't have to "overlook", that's an expectation. What does the federal government do for me? (BEFORE ya start: what I mean is the federal government doesn't deal with ME an individual, that's provincial and municipal territory. The federal government's territory is trade, immigration... nation stuff, 'bout the only way feds can screw me is monetary policy... and we can't much worse that what we got $1 USD = $1.44 CDN)
My logic is: If we get a liberal government again, maybe he can rein in liberal spending a tad.

But yeah, been trying to read up on Carney, because of what y'all been posting... I'm willing to swallow some ideology for some fiscal reality.
This is Canada, it's not like the first week Carney gets into power he would sign a bill suspending all federal aid and cutting off medicaid.....

Carney has an ego , you don’t get where he is in life without it . But I don’t see megalomaniac in his nature . My hope would be seeing him form a strong opposition and hold PP accountable. PP can kill off economic killers , like the carbon policy and the gun buy back and stop sending one hundred person delegations to meetings that require twelve . Maybe .
