B'mer Obsessed - S1000R

Congrats on your new purchase! I'm Jealous! I'm most likely upgrading to this bike as well and will probably end up picking one up at the end of the season:p plus I need to test ride it before I actually pull the trigger. I'm digging the red... that blue I'm also not a huge fan of. They should bring back the yellow!

Thank you. The red one is damn sexy!!! Yellow would have been great. I've had the opportunity to ride the RR several times so I felt safe in ordering the R without a demo ride. The difference really is seat position/bars, more mid range power and dynamic damping control. The RR has about 30 more horsepower at the top end with no damping control ... really, really uncomfortable positioning for me on the street for any extended period of time ... but a seriously hot bike. I'm just not good enough to ride it !!!

Interesting find this morning. Dealer called and said they had a white S1KR coming in April but no DDC package. The DDC package is coupled with the engine spoiler. Couldn't figure out why every time I looked at the BMW pics of white S1KR's there was no engine spoiler. They have used the white one as the cheaper version of the bike. So if you see or want to buy one without a spoiler, don't expect DDC ... who knew???

So are you sticking with the white version without the spoiler and DDC or are you now going to go to the RED with these options? Decisions decisions..

I'm wondering if the DDC package is worth it? I'm afraid of electronics failing at the worst time possible lol. While I think it's cool to have an electronically adjustable suspension I just wonder if it's better to just get a regular suspension and have it tuned correctly. I took my F800R in to get the suspension done and the improvements were amazing and it's also fairly easy to service.

Waiting the the white one with DDC ... love the red, but in love with the white

I would say that for track Ohlins are better but for the street I think DDC is easier and better ... at least for me. They've been using the DDC in the HP4 for a long time without any problems. By all accounts, the HP4 riders just love it. It will be a new toy for me so I guess I want all of it ... it's the wait that's killing me. The thought of having one by mid April was really, really tempting though. Had to restrain myself !!!

Its tough, but the wait may not be a bad thing. On my last purchase, I negotiated the price of the new bike, the value of my trade in, and made inclusion of an OEM accessory a requirement before I took possession. It took 3 1/2 months for that accessory to arrive. In the mean time, I added 8,000 kms to my trade in and they were forced to honour the trade in value in the contract because the delay was the Canadian distributor's fault. I save 8,000 kms of depreciation on what was already a very good trade in value.

My boss just drove the S1000R into the warehouse the other day. Jaw dropped to the ground. Such a beautiful bike

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd have a hard time saying "No" to the arrest-me Red.

Does Serpa allow you to do a private demo on their bikes, like GP, or do you have to wait for a BMW demo day and play follow the leader?

Depends who's leading.;)

Stop tempting me SunnyS lol!!! Serpa has a red and a blue one there fully loaded and I could have it tomorrow!!! What can I say, all my bikes are white ... I'm stuck on it

White is simply the best but I'd have a hard time turning that blue down. Either way I've read about the bike a bit. Nice choice

White is for wedding dresses and dishwashers. GET. THE. RED.

The S1000R is starting to sound intriguing. I'm going to google it and decide if it's any good. Back in a minute.
