B'mer Obsessed - S1000R

And for all the tire kickers, the S1000R is within $1000 of the Kawi or the Honda, with a lot more going for it.

Hence my considering it. Just not sure that all the electronic aids are what makes a bike. Would like to read an unbiased comparison of the 1000cc nakeds before I get into shopping mode this fall.

What have you been riding until now?

The only nakeds you should consider are from Triumph, Ducati and KTM. I've ridden it all and the inline 4 bikes pale in comparison... go to GP bikes when you're serious about making a purchase and schedule a test ride, you'll see what I mean. The Speed Triple, Super Duke and Streetfighter ooze badassery and hooliganism. Absolutely amazing rides.

For real? That BMW looks so plain, it's almost a Honda.

This thing looks like its about to steal your lunch money and have sex with your sister...

Ducati called......... they want their design back.

Mostly 600's - my old POS FJ600, my bro's SV650, a buddy's FZR600. The fastest thing I've actually ridden is a mid-00's CBR600RR. Fun bike but I'm a city boy who uses the bike as my only vehicle so a SS is out of the question. I'm a first-year rider too, so anything big is outrageously expensive to insure (less so come this September).

The S1000R, Street Triple R, Brutale 800 and Z1000 seem to tick all the boxes on my checklist.

I'm sure the BMW kicks ***.

Lol, stop crapping in everybody's thread

L0L, very valid comment. Odd that it's coming from you. Duke doesn't look so hot (its trying too hard) BMW is the bike!

Yeah going from a bunch of 600s to any of these big-bore bikes will be a punch in the gut.

Test ride all of them if you can before you decide. I picked up a Daytona 675R for the track (had an SV650 previously). Tried it out at Jennings after Christmas ... holy crap ... lots of horsepower for the track. It's kickin' my ***. Hope to get better at it by end of this track season

Congrats! That will be a great street bike. Just sucks you have to wait so long to pick it up. Go get a red one and have it painted up instead.

Personally I'd be torn choosing between this and the Tuono V4. The KTM doesn't appeal to me and the Japanese naked 4's are kinda boring and lacking some goodies the Euro bikes have.

Paint ... wish that was an option so I could get it sooner!!!

I would agree with your choice dilemma. Biggest issue would be parts and service ... where? Not sure what the warranty is.

Yeah the service thing could be an issue. That makes the bimmer the more rational choice I guess. Sadly I'm not the most rational when it comes to bikes.

the wait sucks. but you're getting the bike your want.

Great bike. Congrats.

I'm a fan of RR but took a close look at the R at the show, it's a sexy bike.

I agree, the blue is no the best colour. Red and White compliment it much better.

Hope it comes sooner than later. cheers.

Thanks. I'm hoping it looks as good as it does in the pic but you never know until you see it for real

Where did she say this?

Oh, it was based on this post:

Oh now c'mon, be a little more open ... go to a BMW demo day and ride one. You will see and feel the difference for yourself. I've compared all of the bikes mentioned and honestly there is no comparison. I've been waiting for this bike to come out and wanting the bike for some time now. It's worth a demo ride

Thanks. My fingers are crossed for an early arrival

Wishful thinking.

Can you get out of the deal if you find one at another dealer sooner?

Wishful is right!!! They've apparently checked all the dealers across Canada for a white one with what I want ... nothing. I guess white isn't popular. Lots of red or blue. If you see one, let me know
