I did something similar at Endras. Traded up to a k1600gtl. At least I got a snack, and the bike was there. Congrats
Hence my considering it. Just not sure that all the electronic aids are what makes a bike. Would like to read an unbiased comparison of the 1000cc nakeds before I get into shopping mode this fall.
I looked at the BMW, along with a bunch of other "nakeds"... and in the end... I settled on something that fits me far better... a '14 CB1100.
I just don't want all the electronic aids. Now, I need to find the cash.
Ugliest bimmer ever made. No design or flow at all.
Your posts are usually good but.....

Congrats, nice choice!
Is the delay only because of your colour choice? I'm hoping they will be around this summer for demo rides. I'm waiting for the S1000F to come out, but until then, taking the R for a spin would be the next best thing. I'm interested in feeling how effective the DDC really is.

POOSSIEPOSSE1 - i envy you very very nice bike
Everything behind the headlight is fine but the headlight itself is bulbous and lopsided. I'm all for the asymmetry but it doesn't match the rest of the bike at all.

Apparently the delay is the colour and all the stuff I want on it. Ordered everything but theft alarm. According to my husband he can't figure out how they were able to do all the stuff on it for less then the RR and the HP4. Basicaly the S1KR has everything the HP4 has for $8K less. Guess they wanted to hit the "monster/naked" category hard. They will definitely have the S1000R for demo rides in May or June. Check your local BMW dealer. We always go to Serpa. I guess that will be MY first demo on a bike that I've already ordered.
Yeah, I was surprised that you could get the S1000R with everything including DDC for $16,500 before negotiations. It's good to see BMW getting into competitive pricing. It makes me optimistic that the S1000F will come in at a comparable (or better) price then the KTM 1190 Adventure ($18,600).
Does Serpa allow you to do a private demo on their bikes, like GP, or do you have to wait for a BMW demo day and play follow the leader?
Really that's what I liked best about it ... it's weirdly !!!
That's too bad you have to live with strip down version of rr but there has to be strip down relations between husband and wife.Thank you Roomie. My husband has the RR and I gotta say it's BEAUTIFUL but too much for me. I've ridden it a couple of times and it's just to frantic and uncomfortable for me on the street. He loves it and uses it on the track only now. I think the new R will have better mid range and seat position for me on the street. Interesting comment on the blue colour at the presentation. I personally didn't like it but a lot of the people there loved the flat dark blue one.
