B'mer Obsessed - S1000R

Thanks for that Veteq. Interesting how they totally dismissed a few of the nakeds, then dissed the KTM (even though it's 300 ccs bigger than the others) to leave the Aprilia and the BMW. I agree the Tuono is fantastic, but I get frightened when I think of dealer support. Haven't ridden the KTM, I'd like to do that and see what they are talking about.

Wonky Aprilia support is rather a music of the very past. I believe they have built a huge facility in Atlanta to support the market. Basically, when I was ordering something a dealer normally doesn't carry, he was mad that it took more than 5 days to get .... in another words they've grown to become much better in my opinion.

Between Tuono and S1000R, I lean slightly toward Tuono. I just think Tuono is the bike you will never forget once you are on it. My only concern is the fuel economy, wondering how bad it is compare to the S1000R.

Ooohhh

Was in hockley a while ago and both pulled up at the same time. While the ape is a really really nice bike that bmw was jaw dropping. I wouldn't even think twice if I was looking for a bike like that

I have Tuono V4 R and I went to Serpa BMW demo day specifically to test ride S1000R. To be honest, I was not impressed at all. It might be a subjective opinion, but I would never trade T4 for S1000R.
I'd really like to try SD 1290, but nobody has it in stock :(. Any KTM demo days this year?

Lol. Fuel economy a concern when discussing superbikes.

The T4V is probably the most thirsty bike I've ever ridden. If fuel economy is a factor this isn't the bike for you.
But in reality it doesn't bother me. It doesn't take all that long to fuel up and be on the road again. I haven't run out of fuel yet. I did get worried a few times out in the middle of nowhere in the mid-west USA. But always got lucky and happened upon a station.

This is exactly what I'm worry about, gas station availability. I almost run out of gas in the middle of nowhere and the first gas station in my GPS was out of business. By the time I reached the next one, I only got 1 litre left in my tank. Luckily my gixxer can get me as far as 350 km in a full tank.

There's so many nice twisties up north east but can only see gas station every 100 km. When I ride I want to have fun with my bike, not busy searching for gas station.

Booked a S1000R rental at Monette Sports (Laval, QC) for next month, gonna get to test-ride it through the Laurentians over 24 hours. Can't wait.

I have a feeling that I may come back to Ontario a lot poorer. :happy8:

350km per tank on a gixxer? What do you have a gs500?
I remember correctly on my K7 gix 750 I would be around 230ish with the fuel light on.

What kind of fuel economy does the Tuono have? I get about 200 km per tank on my SV650. It can't be worse than that.

I rode the S1000R at the Serpa demo day on Friday. The bike was amazing. The sales guy told me beforehand that he liked the bike and it's really smooth, almost too smooth. After riding the bike, I understand what he was saying. The bike was amazing, stable, comfortable. The engine was strong and smooth, but it lacked something. Character? I don't know.

I pushed my 13 once and made it to a pump with 280.i was surprised I didn't run out. Light comes on around 200 ish depending on how I'm riding. I'd be scared to see what I got with a bike like the s1k :D

That comparison was kinda stupid.. Neeves admits the KTM was handily the best bike on track, smooth, nimble, gobs of power, but is annoyed that it won't wheelie and skid.. unless you turn the electronics off. Um, duh? That's the point of the electronics. Just turn em off!

I may be a bit biased because I owned a previous model SD, but there's no way in hell I'd pick any of those other bikes over the KTM. 1290cc, are you kidding me? That thing is an absolute beast. The 999 was retarded on the street, soooo much fun. I can't even begin to imagine the ridiculousness of the new one.

I've stretched a highway grind to the 210km mark with fuel light on for a bit.
Having fun I've seen 130k fuel light on. Ofcourse riding style changes everything.

I'm temped by the SD 1290. But I jsut can't justify the price premium over the TV4.
In reality all TV4, S1R & SD1290 are all awesome. It's just what flavor of awesome do you want.
Everything is awesome.
