2022 Gas Prices - Will $2(+) per Litre slow you down?

Felicity Ace sank today after burning for almost two weeks. That's ~4000 VW/Porsche/Lambo not getting delivered and one less ship to transport future vehicles. Apparently the fire was complicated by burning EV's aboard. Not sure if the majority were Taycans or ID's.
Yeah i hear there were some bentleys aboard as well.. that's a lot of money being literally burned into the sea

The best part about the boat is having it moored in a good location. In our case a covered slip in Orillia. For two gallons of gas we could motor into town, buy food and drink at grocery store prices, motor over to a beach and enjoy the day with four or more people on board.

My sister and BIL have a boat that I have access to whenever I feel the need.

Since it has to go in via a special trailer and the guy charges 1 hour minimum, they have him take it to the indian reserve station nearby and fill it up there. First fill of the season for the last few years has been around $1000. Will probably be closer to $1500 this year. That being said, for the type of cruising the boat gets used for (and thankfully it's pretty miserly despite being a twin engine), that tank will last about 75% of the season unless we take a longer trip somewhere, which the three of us do a few times a year, at which point I kick into the fuel budget.

What are you riding? A tankful at 2$/L costs me less than 50$ and gets me north of 300kms.

Vulcan Voyager. I've seen as low as 4L/100KM on slow back country roads to a high just north of 9L/100KM while honking on it on the 401 in a stiff headwind. It has a rideability tune on it as well courtesy of the previous owner which requires premium fuel as a result as well.

I want a Model 3 so bad

Dump it before the warranty runs out. I would *not* want to own an out of warranty Tesla.

My next EV will be a Bolt. I'm still happy putting function before form, and in another year or so once the Covid shortages are behind us and our Second Gen Volt is paid for, I'm hoping to find a 2016/17 High Mileage Bolt (with it's new battery) for sub 20K.

Not that long ago, $100 bbl of oil translated to $1/L gas. Like housing, the connection between the cost to produce and the cost to buy has long since broken. Gas prices are based on what people will pay, they have very little to do with the cost of the input.

When oil hit $130/b back in 2008 I remember gas was $1.30. That was the summer we took a trip to the west coast and back with out trailer and spent about $3500 on diesel.

Some day I might cough up the $1000 an hour (Maybe more) to go for a ride in a radial Beaver on floats. Some are turbine or conversions. The Warplane Heritage had rides in radials but not on floats.

Drive there, fly back ~$720K CDN

If you can skip the floats, Waterloo warbirds has a Harvard. Less than $1000 an hour and may include some light aerobatics if you're so inclined. You get the radial experience (with 1340 cu in instead of 985). I've been lucky enough to get some time in a Beaver on floats. Meh. It was great to experience the history but money to fun ratio isn't great for me. Flying with an experienced bush pilot is entertaining though.

The 8yr old Tacoma i traded in for my Rav4 will sell for the same price or more than i paid for it. Crazy.

I could probably sell my 2011 Volt that I bought several years and 50,000km ago for more than I paid for it, by several thousand dollars.

Used car shortage + gas prices double positive for the EV market especially.

Problem is, I'd have to replace it with something.

Love the COSTCO gas....waking up at 6am tomorrow so I can beat the crowds. Plus I prefer to shop at 7am at Walmart instead of during the main rush. Maybe hit up HD at 6am...good times.

I wonder what my 2018 LT with 85k would fetch right now....wouldn't mind putting that toward a Bolt...but alas...I'd still probably be around the 15-20k difference mark.

I paid $33k OTD for my 2018 Volt. They are asking the same price right now for them with 80k on the odo. Not sure if people are actually paying that though - if so, that's nuts.

We paid around that for our 2017 new. I paid 22 for my truck in 14 and could sell it for close to that now.

Sent using a thumb maybe 2

First time I waited in line in the morning at COSTCO. $1.54/L and lineup was getting longish around 6:45am.

$65 for a half tank fillup on the Odyssey.

TESLA had this figured out years ago. It's a shame rivals didn't follow sooner, now they are playing catch up, and we are still waiting for decent electric options to arrive....

I ordered a bronco sport , I did order the big engine pkg LOL ,4 cyl turbo
I only keep cars 3 yrs so if it’s no fun, it goes away.

I’m thinking my triumph 1050 tiger needs a new home , big engine and I don’t go far .

Triumph 1050 Tiger you say….need a Corbin seat for it? I have one in my garage sitting there collecting dust.

Total bummer…I had a different colour Bentley for every day of the week on that boat.

was waiting for you to show up. 😂

Alas I'm seriously considering purchasing a new F250. I have to pull horses and trailer around to horse shows, haul my snowmobile around and many other uses... It's going to be a real truck with an 8' box. Fortunately I'm mostly a homebody so using it every day is a non issue.
I'm getting the biggest gas engine available and it's going to hurt fueling that beast.
I've usually have a truck but avoided using it unless needed. Unfortunately all motor vehicles must be used at least once a week or there are consequences, I found that out the hard way lol.
