2022 Gas Prices - Will $2(+) per Litre slow you down?

Alas I'm seriously considering purchasing a new F250. I have to pull horses and trailer around to horse shows, haul my snowmobile around and many other uses... It's going to be a real truck with an 8' box. Fortunately I'm mostly a homebody so using it every day is a non issue.
I'm getting the biggest gas engine available and it's going to hurt fueling that beast.
I've usually have a truck but avoided using it unless needed. Unfortunately all motor vehicles must be used at least once a week or there are consequences, I found that out the hard way lol.
No appetite for a diesel? We had F350s on our last job site with diesels. Phenomenal beasts.

Most likely stated already but the big outcry against high fuel costs will be when zoom workers return to workplace and start paying every week at the pump.

The additional April 1st 25% increase in Carbon Tax increase will not help.

I am not looking forward to driving 60km each way to work...at all...

60kms ? Think of the folks that bought a cheaper house in Woodstock and drive into TO everyday, since the house was 300k less . Oh crap a car every three years is 50k a shot and gas is 1.60L ? Well stocking shelves at Walmart looks like an ok job in Woodstock now …..

@ungoloth, if your pulling serious weight and an F250 , why not diesel?
I wouldn't touch a diesel with a 10' pole these days. You have to be in a very special window where you're heavy or towing a lot AND you're doing serious mileage.

The $10K capital cost, DEF, and repair costs make it hard to pay off.

I've had several diesels -- A 1978 Rabbit, 1985 Olds Toro, 2000 Suburban 2500, and 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The only one that made sense was the Rabbit as the diesel engine was a $300 premium and the mileage was 40% better than a gas version. The others for marginally better gas mileage but were sluggish - fuel mileage didn't come close to covering repairs, and the huge initial premium.

I would go the other end , kenworth or international single axle 4 dr cab , Volvo are silly , or Hino import diesel . I’ve owned a few diesel vehicles and mostly my repairs have never been major , my worst have been injector rebuilds ($100ea x6) and a glo plug issue ($100x 4 ) . I’m not scared of a diesel if I need it to work .
To be fair , product like the GM diesels in retail vehicles , I’m not touching that either.

Well that's a whole different issue...I know people who moved out about 100-200km away because 'office is never going back to work in a physical central office'....OOPS!

This is going to skyrocket grocerries correct?
Sort of. Never let a crisis go to waste. I saw an opinion piece today that said increased price of diesel with drive up price of groceries by 30%. I think that is highly unlikely as we are talking about a ~30% bump in one small component of the chain. Now, they may bump 30% for more profit if they think they can get away with it.

Well, not everyone will be going back/ A lot of people (myself included) have confirmed that since we've been so effective remote, there really is no need. The only thing we have to (optionally) come in for now is birthday, retirement, etc. lunches. The people who just assumed this would be the new normal without actually checking with their employers were fools.

I wish. Some of our bosses were salivating at the thought of going back…then they moved our office to Scarborough and those same bosses were upset because now there’s no getting off the subway at union….some of them need to buy cars as downtown living is great…until the company moved your office…oops.

Can a company just move offices without compensating their employees for relocation costs?
