zx10r or gsxr?

I am surprised to see that a difference of 9HP can make such a difference in experience - According to the internetssss the 750 is 153HP and the 10r is 162 on the crank.

I am guessing power band?

It was 184 at the crank claimed. I think you have a zx10 whp and 750 crank there.

Ive rode both, the GSXR750 on the track and currently own a Gen1 10R, and I can tell you that you are comparing two totally different bikes, like comparing a grape to a dragon fruit. Anyone who rides a SS knows what to do with a grape, but put a dragon fruit in their hands and they are probably going to run and hide or have no idea what to do with it. The 10R is a beast and to have it WOT takes some serious cojones. Do i think it is too much for the street, hell ya, have I ever ridden any other bike on the street that has made me repeatedly scream in my helmet when you hit the powerband, hells no.

Exactly, my 04 was dynoed at 167hp to the wheel.

If you got your suspension dialed in and a damper The power is manageable, the bike is nimble...iv never had a problem with it on the street, if anything the mid power has gotten me out of a few situations...It however does have characteristics of a killer.

The 750 is a nice bike, no debating that...yes I cringe when people say gixxer, but suzuki makes awesome bikes. I just happen to always liked my kawi's a little better.

That fat rear Dunlop delivers the goods, too. Putting 161.9 horsepower on the pavement at 11,750 rpm, it dethrones the previous dyno king, Kawasaki's ZX-12R (161.4 at 10,000 rpm)

I think you might be right - Like my wife says, I suck at researching

And if you so some more research I believe its still the lightest litre bike ever made still... but within the past couple years from when i remember last that could have changed

There may not be many 750's out there, but it doesnt matter as they look almost identical to the 600's. I am biased though and would never own a gixxer even if they are good, I want something that isnt every second sportbike out there.
Lol... Yes, because Yamaha's are so rare.

No, typical Kawasaki issues, too much power for the frame and suspension.

And another 25lb/ft of torque. Really it's down mainly to the wheelbase, which is similar to Honda's 954 in a way. It's just REALLY lively.

But don't kid yourself, the 05 ZX makes more power at the wheel than the 750 does at the crank.

It's almost a widowmaker, that one.

Well in the big pcture compared to the gixxer my bike is rare! Type in kijiji my bike and that gixxer... you will find maybe a handful of my bike for sale and pages full of that gixxer. So there are either fewer of them( and based on sales is true, because the gixxer brand sells double the amount of all other sportbikes) or people realize they want a real bike and are selling there gixxers ;)

i got 2 gsxr 750's and a gsxr 1000.
I would only buy the 750 for the street, there is no point to have a 1000c+ bike on the street.
the 750 can still wheelie all day

also the insurance on my 1000 is way more then the 750

but the last time I rode a zx10 down the streey they do wheelie very smooth on eglington

A happy 750 rider here.

I like how it handles and how it perfectly fits my size, insurance is pretty affordable, parts and mods are easy to find and inexpensive.

I didn't buy it to compete, nor to enter a pissing contest about "my bike is faster than yours". I got it because I enjoy riding and when WOT it does what it was designed for: awesomeness.

I'll get a litre bike when I'm ready for it, I know I'm not at the moment. My recommendation to you lies within the lines of this paragraph.

Rubber side down!

get the one you think looks better. Really, none of the performance differences are going to matter to you once you're in the saddle - not unless you're tracking and timing.

You'll never want to get on and ride if she's ugly.

Roaming the interstates is much easier on that 10. vs. the 750.

I'd buy the 04/05 10R, hands down.

Or they just realized that they won't get much for a bike that old...

I dont think that matters... look how much you were asking for your track bike!

What does that have to do with anything? My track bike was very well priced compared to others like it at the time.
I got very close to what I was asking for it and it sold within a couple of weeks, towards the end of the season nonetheless.

I've never ridden a litre bike.. I've only ridden 600's (gsxrs, R6's, older zx6rs).. and I noticed quite a difference between them.. ie. R6's are babies down low and can really compress the rear once the power kicks in at higher rpms.. whereas my gsxr600 has excellent mid-range punch.

I'm curious to understand just HOW different a litre bike can be? Can anyone put it into words? I refuse to believe that it's going to be as big of a jump as moving from a 250 to a 600... or is it?

You get to sneer at the 600 owners.
