Working out! Fitness! Nutrition!

Yay, starting the insanity work out tomorrow:)

Enjoy it! It's a blast! Well, a blast if you like punishing yourself and possibly throwing up or passing out, or slipping in your pool of sweat and smashing your face off the floor lol.

When I was busting my butt and eating 90% perfectly and doing Insanity plus normal morning work outs, I felt awesome and people noticed differences in just a couple weeks...

Unfortunately, I kept on getting hurt and then work really got in the way so I'm back to square one... And work won't be letting up any time soon.

Goddam injuries, why cant we stay rubberized like when we were kids.

Get hurt, be back 100% the week after is how i remember it!

Cause of my knee injury, im doing boxing, boy does it kick my ***
Good luck with get some free/spare time. Try to get a lil 15-20 minutes a day of HIIT (i use skip rope + various exercises) ...it wont change you but itll help condition you a little

What does everyone take here for supplements/vitamins?

Sorry hater, yes, I've been working out for 3 years or so.
When I was prepping for Vegas it didn't take me that long. I was at the gym 6 days a week. Weights and cardio everyday.
P.S. it's from 2011, not 2010

Are you naturally lean/athletic or were you jelly like before? Im wondering what your before pics look like before you ever went to the gym at all.

Im always impressed most seeing guys/gal that undergo a transformation of having to drop significant amounts of body fat in order to get in great shape vs. lean guys who just need to pack on muscle.

In any case though, good job man.

Fat to fit transformations are always the most drastic for the time frame since someone can drop something like 50 lbs in the span of 3 months and look COMPLETELY different but IMHO, it is MUCH more time consuming to put on muscle than to drop fat (if you gain 10 lbs of lean mass in 3 months, that's already impressive) so the skinny to fit transformations impress me more.......but as a former skinny guy, I am of course biased.

And as for the supplement question; I only really take whey, (when I remember) a multi-vitamin, and the occasional pre-workout (brand is irrelevant). I'm not really big on supplements in general.

I suppose I am more biased the other way.

I figure that if you love eating food and hitting heaving weights, its a far more enjoyable process. The process of shedding body fat is never really fun EVER.

No it's definitely not fun, but putting on a noticeably significant amount of muscle is laborious as hell. It's a different kind of misery.

With my metabolism it is VERY VERY easy to cut. MUCH MUCH easier than putting on lean mass. I do NOT enjoy eating over 4500 cals a day. I force myself to do it day in and day out for the sake of progress but I HATE IT. Seriously, I generally don't enjoy eating period though, I see it as a functional thing almost 100%. If I could take a pill every day that would give me all my cals and nutrients and I never felt hungry or had to eat for the rest of my life I would do it in a heartbeat (would have SOO much more free time).

WHen dieting down, sticking to the diet is not fun but (a) it's a crapload of food for me anyways (I cut on 3300-3500 cals/day) and (b) seeing yourself get leaner and leaner every week and people literally staring at you in public once you hit under about 8-9% BF IS actually really fun to me. Oh and I don't need cardio to cut so that makes it much less of a pain in the *** too.

So jealous dude... My Cals are at 1800-2000/day in order to lose and about 2400-2600 to "maintain". If I ate at your cutting rate I would gain!

Question for y'all. Would you guys cut then build or build then cut. BB.com is useless lately. I pudged out the last couple months and went from 9% to 12% body fat :( still at around 240

240 lbs at 12%?!? You're huge dude, bigger than me. How tall are you? I'm currently sitting around 215-220 lbs at 12%-ish.

And to answer your question......it's winter......BULK. Tell your girlfriend that if she can't handle you when you're bulking, she doesn't deserve you when you're shredded.

I get lazy and eat out waaay too much and not eat all that clean when I'm not cutting:

Protein shake in the morning with 2% milk - 300 cals

9:30 am (before work)
Timmies Breakfast sandwitch with sausage on a bagel - 500-600 cals

Lunch
Beef and noodles/half chicken dinner with fries from Swiss Chellet/whatever..... 1000 cals +

5:30 pm (leaving work) - Random 12 inch sub from Quiznos 1000 cals +, or swarma plate with chicken + beef and pita bread (probably like 1200-1500.....I sometimes feel like puking by the time I'm done and I've caught people staring since I eat this in approximately 5 minutes lol)

6:30-7pm (at home, about an hour before gym....not always) - Another protein shake - 300 cals

10:30 pm (after gym) - 250-300g of lean ground beef + as much rice as I can eat 1200 cals+
Sometimes a beer or two LOL

Something like that. My diet is waaaay waaay cleaner when I'm cutting but cals are still fairly high. I sometimes slip up and miss a meal or two here and there and than I basically stay at the same weight from week to week. lol Do not try this at home kids if you're not super ecto like me or you'll look like this:

You wouldn't believe me :p I'm 5'10". I'm (legit) big boned. I'm worried if I go straight to bulking I'll have a VERY hard time loosing the flub come spring. I've got noticeable love handles right now. I carry it in my tummy/torso, so I'll drop almost 20-25lbs to get back to 9%

Dude when I bulk I have to push ~3800 calories. I should be eating more, but I just can't. I refuse to force myself to eat.

The fit test is the easiest one. By far.
Wait until the first workout, the "warm up" is not what you're expecting... Basically a work out before you work out.

Do you look like the guy in the middle?

I think these images somewhat reasonably dipict what 12% body fat looks like. If you have visible lovehandles, you might be higher than you think. What sort of measurement did you use to come up with 12%?

Also, 3800 calories is not much at all for a guy your size.. What does your daily meal plan look like?

You guys are some lightweight eaters man.

Ever go to an Indian food buffet, AYCE Sushi or even Mandarin? You could do 4000 calories in one meal. Try Hot House cafe's sunday brunch to get your calories up. Friggin awesome.
