Nathan Parker is currently facing assault charges for a road rage incident.
Rebel has a cringe TMZ vibe sometimes, but they also often cover important stories that other outlets flat out ignore(Anyone remember the infamously corrupt mayor of brampton playing hockey during the strict lockdowns?)I would tend to remove the RCMP accreditation rather than that of the Rebel News after that incident. The big knock against Rebel is that they tend to get too involved with their stories, to the point of raising funds for or becoming participants. Should a news cameraman take pictures of a kid drowning or stop taking pictures and save the kid? It's an ethical dilemma.
several yrs ago we had a Halton cop , in Milton, shoot himself in the leg in the dept on night shift when he and another cop were having a "quick draw" western competition. With loaded guns.
Upon reviewing the video I see it as a good way to handle the situation, diverting the reporter into the blocker. What went wrong was the over hyped aftermath. All the police had to do is detain the guy a few seconds to let Freeland get away.I somewhat agree. If someone's security requires a buffer, police know how to do that and should do that. There were a more than a dozen RCMP and YRP milling around, and clear safe vehicle path to the front door of the building Freeland was visiting (see all the cop cars parked there?). Freeland's handlers would have decided she take a 100+m stroll to her destination, Taylor Swift's security team would have driven her to the entrance.
The more I watch the video, the more choreographed it appears. Look at the actions of Freelands Aid - she's eyeing the security detail, just before the RCMP guy picks the reporter she darts out of the way.
If this was a legit security threat or a dangerous incident, I would expect at least one right media to come to the RCMP's defence. Nope.
P.S. Apparently the incident is being reviewed by the RCMP, the organization whose commissionaire is appointed by Freelands boss. Can anyone add a punch line?

So who gets to decide who’s a journalist in Canada? In the last 8 years we’ve seen this Liberal government go from corrupt, to criminal and now to just plain evil. “ I have an admiration for China’s basic dictatorship”, how did we not see this coming.I would donate money to Rebel News and David Menzie’s legal costs to sue the RCMP but I’m afraid my bank accounts might get frozen.Rebel Canada Media Payee?
You'd think that the RCMP would hire the best and brightest to guard the deputy Prime Minister.
They arrested what CBC calls a "Rebel News Personality" for assaulting a police officer. Of course the charges were quickly dropped. I admire CBC's unwillingness to acknowledge the depths to which reporting has sunk.
'Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre condemned the arrest, reposting a video of the incident with the message: "This is the state of freedom of the press. In Canada. In 2024. After eight years of Trudeau."'

Agree. Although I don't see any viable alternates in Ontario right now. Liberals deserve a few more decades in the time-out box for Wynnebag and Mcguinty (paying 1B to win a single seat in an election alone should doom them to obscurity for a lifetime). Green has no chance. NDP has been waffling between impractical and outright insane for decades. Sadly they are the best choice for an alternate right now.Douggie's Conservatives here in Ontario haven't exactly been models of transparency, either.
This isn't a political-party thing. All politicians are corrupt. The only thing you can do is kick them out before they have a chance for their corruption to fester, subject to also not voting for someone who's already messed up even before they enter office. Grim choice.
I found the answerMy wife and I have an odd hobby of watching 70’s tv shows on YouTube. We were just watching an episode of “The Six Million Dollar Man“ when a thought occurred to me. How much would it cost the federal Liberal government to build Steve Austen today? Bear in mind that it would probably get contracted to GC Strategies who would sub it out and get a 20% commission like they did in the Arrivecan scam, Anyone care to take a guess?
The NDP literally gave every woman and person of color a yellow card that they could hold up to interrupt any white man who was speaking, or get in line for any part of the event in front of a white man. Even presenters could be yellow-carded. I kid you not, this is the level of woke identity politics in the NDP at the moment. If you're a white man, you don't matter in the NDP at all.Sadly they are the best choice for an alternate right now.
I'm all for transparency, but I also understand that sometimes decisions and deals must be made outside the public eye in order to get them done.Douggie's Conservatives here in Ontario haven't exactly been models of transparency, either.

I had this one pop up:from years ago (random article popped up in my social media feed, no idea why - probably an indication of google knowing everything ...)
Open letter to Heather Boyd: Ezra doesn’t deserve media accreditation - Thoughtful Journalism About Energy's Future
“Bottom line, as an online journalist I had to be vetted by the Alberta government and I have yet to hear a single good argument why Ezra shouldn’t be as well.” – Markham Hislop Dear Ms. [Read more]energi.media

Service Ontario is not a model of efficiency....
I'm ok when the gov't does deals that prove to be in the public's best interest, even if they are done without public consultation or tender. We voted them in to manage the province, do our bidding, and trust they will execute to their mandate. We vote them out if they lose that trust.
I expect transparency, whether it’s before or after a deal is done depends on the circumstances.
anyone can be a journalist; we have freedom of press in Canada. accreditation comes from the companies themselves last i heard. So who gets to decide who’s a journalist in Canada?
