Why Android is better than iPhone.

If I was Steve Jobs I wouldn't want Costco selling my premium products either... Apple isn't some cheap HTC or Motorola or Acer, they don't want their products selling at some cheap warehouse store. Especially when they're building their own retail chain that blows every other retail chain out of the water with the absolute nicest stores in the world. Fact.

I think this post defines you as Apple fanboi numero uno .. nicest stores in the world? In the grand scheme of everything, what does THIS have to do with the end-product? I don't know about everyone else - but when i go shopping, i go in, get what is best priced with the best reputation, and GTFO toot-sweet ASAP - no matter what the product is - I ain't hanging out for the fricken ambience. "The nicest stores" really matter to no one else but the sales-droids (sic) who have to work in them day in day out, as far as i am concerned.

On the Android market - for Bell customers, Froyo (v.2.2) has been released for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant owners to update their phones. Update your Kies app on your PC, plug in your phone, and Bob's your Uncle.

They need to set up bouncers to keep common plebeian riffraff out of their nicest stores in the world. That way, only the most sophisticated clientèle will rub shoulders with each other

Agreed, I don't want no whack suckers in there with me when I go for my apple genious appointment. Somone has to show me how to turn on my iPhone and download angry burds, I waited 3 days for this!!

I guess no one's going to hire you to be a retail consultant any time soon. j/k :)

when he said nicest stores in the world, it could mean a lot of things, just use the brain.

number 1 in customer satisfaction, for starters.

i'll continue if i have to, but just see where i'm coming from.

if you approach an intersection, you need gas, you see 2 gas stations, 1 newly built, 1 from the 70's, both the same price,.....which one will you go to(tim horton's included in newly built station).

A better analogy is coming up to a crappy run-down dealership selling bulk VWs for the same price as the new Ferrari dealership across the street is selling leftover F430s...

Apple is Ferrari, your crappy other phones are VWs, you see... real world, factual analogy.

If the VW's had more powerful engines, handled better and outperformed the Ferraris in every possible way, I wouldn't mind paying the same price and laughing at those who paid the same price for a crappier product because theirs has automatic transmission and the Ferrari name

The one with the cheapest smokes.. coincidently or not, which is usually the one that is '2nd tier' older stations like Pioneer...

I can afford the insurance and repair bills for a VW, not for an F430.. comparison fail.

I'm not special, I don't pretend to be elite. If it works, thats good enough for me, no matter how elite the store is in terms of interior decoration, or what the press-copy for the product would have me believe.. I don't need a Brand to define me, sorry.

Slagging the competition does nothing for bettering my opinion for iStuff.

Youre lying to yourself and you know it. Youd take the ferrari in a heartbeat because no matter how much power the vw has its still a piece of junk econobox.

Thank you for making Bill's point on the fanboi topic, yet again

Look, the important thing is that we all clearly agree on the fact that Apple makes superior products and sets the industry standards with every new version of iPhone that comes out. They also create entirely new markets with their creative product design.

Pre-iphone smartphone industry? LOL

Pre-ipad tablet industry? LOL

Face it, Apple revolutionizes the tech world. They're the cream of the crop, they're the BMW that all other products are judged by. And in the tech market, there are always geeks and tinkerers who don't want or can't afford a BMW... so they buy a VW and soup it up. Right? Right.

You mean hipsters? What if I want to enjoy Apple products ironically? Surely they'll let me in then!

best and most apt analogy yet

I really dont care which is better.
Wife has an iphone4...nice pretty product...works well.
I have a HTC...works well also not as pretty....no big deal
Both products works great and does what it is design to do....end of discussion.

You don't need to clone android its already open source... that's why every company in the world is building for it. Its cheap and already available to them so unlike Apple they don't have to spend tens of millions in R&D to build a good OS. They just slap Google's cookie-cutter system onto a device they spent 2 months developing and push it out to the market..

just read an article on tgdaily.com, and somewhere in it, it said "last man standing"
its about iphone.

let's be blunt. apple has only two advantages over any other tech company right now: an operating system and marketing.

that's it.

the analogy of an automatic transmission and a pretty badge is 100% accurate.

the apple os is the slushbox of the tech world--designed to be used by the least tech savvy people and neo-luddites of the world, because it is literally idiot proof. it also happens to have the advantage of working pretty well, since that's what apple's targeted marketing affirms.

they sell their products cleverly, and make them pretty. that's the second advantage. they spend an awful lot of time getting this part right. to the point where they have a 'culture' and a rabid following. literally, it's like people have 'drunk the kool-aid'.

are their products more powerful or better made?

no. macs now use all of the same components that can be found in any other made in china laptop, so the processor advantage they once enjoyed is gone. the iphone rolls out of the same foxconn factories that any number of other non-apple products do. reliability numbers for macs and ipods are middling and the iphone enjoys only a scant margin over other manufacturers like htc--note the vast numbers of refurb apple products available, how quickly they appear after a product launch, and how they are continuously available afterwards.

for the longest time, apple was a niche market company, but their ipod (and of course itunes) has funded their diversification and led their marketing branding out of the wilderness.

as others have said, will i buy an iphone? yes, i might. there are better mp3 players and better computers/laptops out there, but right now, the iphone has a slight lead over the androids, imho. will that last? probably not.

in fact, at the end of the day, most people's satisfaction with their cellphones has a lot more to do with their service provider than the hunk of metal and plastic they are using to make their calls.

has any one tried to clone an android? i've seen some pretty clever fake iPhones.

Actually, I've been seeing kirfs with fake Android UI both on ebay and DX ever since the OS hit the mass market.
