Why Android is better than iPhone.

Oh and one more thing... the original iPhone came out in June of 2007, and as of 2010 it was still receiving full OS updates.

3 years bro-dude! Come back here in 2013 and lemme know what Sony and HTC are doing with their 3 year old phones hahahahaha

iOS4 works wonderfully well on 3GS are you trying to make a point here somewhere? It also works on 3G, it just doesn't work on the original phones... and why would it? They're too old to keep up, the hardware is outdated.

Android on the other hand.... hrmmm, Sony ships their X10 with 1.6 (when other phones are already 3 version ahead) and 7 months later they finally roll their first upgrade out to 2.1.... when 2.3 is already on the market.

ooops

I asked because I seem to recall a couple people complaining how slow iOS 4 ran on their 3G/S phones, so they went out and bought an HTC Desire. Maybe they only had the 3G. I honestly don't remember. Your complaints are, once again, directed toward the wrong place. It is sony's decision to ship with older versions. That is not a problem with Android, it's a problem with Sony's business practice. Don't like it? Don't buy a Sony phone. I don't have this issue, since my phone was purchased directly from google. Moreover, since a quick check of sony's site suggests that the 2.1 update is available for the X10, my guess is that it now ships with that version. And as a sidenote: gingerbread (2.3) isn't available yet.

I think I'm done in here. Clearly you are completely unable to accept that different OSes meet different peoples' needs. Your "facts" are actually largely opinions, and clearly nobody here is going to change anyone else's mind. Most importantly, your arrogance and condescension is really pissing me off.

Its a problem with the Android platform as a whole, not with the OS or Google themselves.... nonetheless, it is a problem. With so many phones being pumped out so quickly by all these manufacturers you can't be sure at the level of support you're gonna get. When Google releases a new version of Android it could be weeks or months before you are actually able to have it on your phone... or it could be never.

My point about the X10 was that it shipped with 1.6 when 2.1 was already available, and it took until just last month for it to finally be brought to 2.1... except 2.2 was already available and 2.3 SDKs are already out.

iPhone is better than iDroid.
Ooops I said iDroid, and kept it at that.

Android - OS

iPhone - HARDWARE

iOS - OS

Now that we have that clear, add up all the iPhone + iPad + iPod Touch sales and see how well the android fares, and keep in mind that's 3 devices vs 40

Keep in mind that the data is prior to the launch of iPhone 4, which rose the share by 7%

You know when the 3rd largest retailer in the US drops Apple, the honeymoon is over.

Costco confirms it will stop selling Apple products

During Costco's fiscal first-quarter earnings call today, Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti confirmed that the company is in the process of phasing out Apple products from its shelves.

The irony... Apple earns record breaking profit.

who is costco, do some homework, apple is opening stores all over the world, not just north america.

ahhh, im too lazy to continue splaining more.

As usual, Moto Stark only posted the part of the story he wanted to that would appear to support his point. He left out the meat of the story - how Apple has always refused to let Costco deep discount their goods, or bend them over as a supplier using the WalMart hold-the-supplier-hostage business model, devaluing the brand in the process. Apple mutually parting ways with Costco as a reseller is not a big deal, and nowhere near the "news" he makes it out to be.

Costco and Apple have had some growing pains that reached a boiling point with the iPad. Costco was snubbed by Apple when it came to carrying the iPad. A recent report from a Costco spokesperson has confirmed the relationship between Kirkland and Cupertino will be ending:
The chain is phasing out Apple products, per a mutual agreement between the companies, Galanti told The Seattle Times. Costco had sold iPods and pre-loaded iTunes cards for years, although never at huge discounts; and Apple never allowed Costco to sell its products online like other retailers, he said. “In the past couple months, we agreed to wind down.”
Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessette said the company has no comment.
Typically the discounts at Costco for Apple goods were only marginal at best. Regardless, it was still a convenient place to buy gift cards and iPods. Apple doesn’t want their prices to fluctuate and be seen as on discount. Costco’s buying power most likely butt heads with Cupertino’s lust for control. It seems Apple is the one company Costco couldn’t slay for acquiring a discount on bulk orders.

Thats right, keep editing your post, and not telling the part where Costco offered to sell Apple products at full list price, like the other retailers.

My hat goes off to Costco for sticking it out and not being a bunch of puppets like everyone else. This isn't the first time Costco butted heads with big controlling companies. They butted heads with Coca Cola and eventually dropped their product.

Guess what, Costco is selling Coke products again. Lets put a big "W" in the Costco win column.

It seems editing to highlight the quote FROM COSTCO about their discounts of Apple products (Apple had no comment) didn't help. Read it again. Slowly. Out loud, if that will help. You MIGHT (50-50?) realize it's Costco saying it was a mutual dissolution.

That pretty much sums it up.

Of course it was "mutual". Thats Costco's professional way of saying we dumped them.

If I was Steve Jobs I wouldn't want Costco selling my premium products either... Apple isn't some cheap HTC or Motorola or Acer, they don't want their products selling at some cheap warehouse store. Especially when they're building their own retail chain that blows every other retail chain out of the water with the absolute nicest stores in the world. Fact.

It's because of the predatory practices Costco uses with it's suppliers (a la Wal-Mart) demanding bulk discounts to their own point structure, Scheduling deliveries to the minute, and instituting fines for being both late AND early (you're at the loading dock at this time +/- x minutes or you're fined $y - traffic be damned). No one wants to do business like that, but the large box stores lock their suppliers in with tales of huge numbers then bend them over once the contract's signed. Apple's smart not to let them pull that crap with them.

+1

Costco is just not the place to buy Apple products. The way Costco conducts itself from a logistical and operational point of view would never work for Apple. Thats why they were only selling iPods and nothing else. Apple likes to have total control over its supply chain and how/when products are put on display. Thats why Best Buy now has a dedicated Apple section.

There's an expression in politics, that I think works very well here: "If you're explaining, you're losing."

The fact that someone actually feels compelled to share the top 5 reasons Android is better than Apple, speaks volumes about the superiority of Apple in the mind of consumers. And, I hate to say it, but in business, what the customer thinks is the only thing that matters. Technology companies, in particular, have a very difficult time getting their heads around that concept. Apple figured it out a long time ago.

How is this a win for Costco? They are the ones that are selling Coke again.

Thank you very much. The very fact that Andrioid is the iOS "Killer" or the Zune is the iPod "Killer" or the Nexus, Galaxy, Droid whatever are all billed as iPhone "killers" are basically testaments to Apple's dominance.

Nobody ever referred to a BMW 3-series as the "Infiniti G37 Killer". When people try to explain that their product is better than yours, they are acknowledging that yours is the industry standard. This means you have done a very good job. You take a minute to pat yourself on the back, and then you work harder to keep doing what you're doing, because it's working.
