Why Android is better than iPhone.

Jelly Bean is a big improvement. It was released for my Nexus S, but now waiting for Rogers to release it for my S2, unfortunately Rogers is terrible at releasing updates.

As a telus subscriber, I think I was lucky 4.0 was even made available. We shall see what happens. I'm tempted to unlock the phone and just push the updates myself. We'll see...

As long as you don't mind being tied down to "Robber's" wireless.

:laughing3:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/2012/10/rogers-named-exclusive-carrier-for-nokia-lumia-920/

-5x better low light performance on the cameras optics compared to competing devices.
-touch screen usable with GLOVES on
-wireless charging built in

This thing looks bad ***, actually bringing to the table some innovative features.

I don't know why people are claiming this is a WP7 device when everything I have been reading claims its going to run the new windows phone 8?

I'm all for more competition, but the analysts say Nokia is in more dire situation than RIM, and would hesitate before leaping into a Nokia.

http://www.bgr.com/2012/10/01/nokia-analysis-recovery-unlikely/

Also keep in mind....

-PC makers have typically struggled when introducing phones for whatever reason.
-Microsoft is coming out with their own smart phone. Why do they need Nokia?

If you really want a Windows phone, Samsung will be introducing one soon and it will likely be a very strong contender and feature packed like their Android phones.

IMHO, RIM indeed does have a fighting chance to claim "best of the rest" in the smart phone market after Apple and Google. They are already established, have 80 million subscribers, are still emerging in other markets and in some places have claimed the number 1 spot.

Nokia/Windows is starting from scratch, have poor app world, as Windows has only released developer tools to limited individuals. RIM is hosting sold out developer conferences all over the world and handing out dev models like crazy to get app developers on board BEFORE launch.

RIM still has an uphill battle to be sure, but no worse than Nokia.

All the best, and looking forward to 2013 to see how things pan out.

this is cool(used it).

Rogers is launching its first One Number native app for a mobile device today with the launch of One Number for iPad. With the app, you can make phone and video calls, as well as plug into your phone’s text messages, using the iPad. It shows your cellphone number to the other caller, but does not use your minutes.

This means that when anywhere in Canada, or abroad, you can make phone calls to any number in Canada for FREE, using your Rogers phone number, over a WiFi network
. You use your One Number credentials to log into the app, so you don’t necessarily need to be using a Rogers-connected iPad to use the app.

You can find more information about Rogers One Number at its web portal, and sign up for the service(FREE). We took a look at the service when it first launched, and really enjoyed it. Plus you can use a computer to log in also, anywhere.

FREE Download Rogers One Number for iPad. The company says an Android tablet app is coming soon.

Yeah, you mentioned it already;
found this out yesterday.

free long distance to anyone in Canada. Text, Etc.....

https://www.rogersonenumber.ca/welcome/?locale=en_CA

I actually started using it just today as a matter of fact.

I can't sync my contacts from my phone because I refuse to install the very poorly rated app to do it with, so unless I maintain the address book seperately, I have none. But I can make calls and send messages just fine, other than my laptop mic is apparently staticky. Oh, and for some reason I can't use the phone or settings on my One Number at the mo. ~shrugs~

Overall, it looks like One Number will be a nice feature to have.

Another great feature of one number , is the blocking feature, where you can block any number and all the caller gets is,"the person you're calling in not available at the moment. The phone doesn't ring and they don't get to the voice mail.

Yeah i know i mentioned it, but not the iPad App(or android tablet app coming soon), which i found to make a lot of sense, because you don't need a computer to log on to use.....because tablets are instant on and ready to use immediately. And a bonus to take with you overseas or anywhere, mobile.

I got lucky and synced my contacts on the iOS app, no issues.

And no issues on the Mac(safari browser) with phone or settings issue.

Yeah i used this.....jailbroken iPhones can block numbers with a tweak installed.

And i notice stock android ICS can also block any number, unknown too.....did not test yet though.

Also with onenumber, you can have up to 5 numbers ring at the same time.

So many options, and i am guessing more to come.

That's the great thing about Android, you don't have to circumvent the phone to put on apps' all you do is check off 3rd party sources, and then download apps from ppcwarez.org :)

just so i am not confused, is ppcwarez.org actually mobiism???

thanks in advance.

Yes it is. I have been on it since it was called ppcwarez, so I am so used to calling it that. If you type it in the browser as ppcwarez it goes to mobilism lol. best site around for Android warez. another good one is ipmart forums

I used extreme call blocker for android, it picks up and hangs up, but with one number it just says you're not available, so people won't know they are blocked.

It's not a browser issue. I was using them on IE9 no problem, then they became unavailable for no apparent reason. Right now it seems to be working again. It's a software issue, and it's to be expected from any software from Rogers.

You should try texting in the browser. First you get a popup notification in the lower left from the installed software, plus you get a notification popup on top of that from the browser app, plus you get the actual text message in the window. The funny part is, these popups cover the 'Send' button in the browser window, so if you're texting someone, well, you can't! There's no way to stop the notifications or close the popups, you have to wait for them to fade away before you can click Send. So the texting applet is really an anti-texting applet since it prevents you from sending.

This is what I would expect from a company with zero history or care for UX.

I downloaded an account managament app from them once about year ago, and it was honestly the worst joke of an app I have ever tried. Luckily no harm was done and I removed it. These apps that support the One Number are more threatening to my digital health however, so I won't try them. So, enjoy the tablet app at your own risk.
