Why Android is better than iPhone.

Baaaah im so undecided. I just renewed my contract with Fido. Unlimited talk in Canada, voicemail, text, 6GB for $78. Got the 4S. Since it comes with 5.1.1 I thought I could save my SHSH blob from the phone even if apple stopped signing 5.1.1, but I found I cant do that. I dont want a phone that can't be jail broken. Tempted to exchange it for android but their phones suck. One S has GPS issues. Galaxy Nexus has a crappy camera. :/ Maybe I should get the 5 and see if I can trade it for a 4s that has it's shsh blobs saved in cydia.

I got a Galaxy S3 and I have been using it for a few weeks now.

I'm not anti-Apple, in fact, I have an iPhone 4, iPod 4, and Macbook Pro. I just needed an Android for work.

What a device it is... So functional and soo FAST ! They pretty much took an iPhone and attempt to improve it in every aspect in their own way, and I think it's a success.

A few things tho:
1) Can't keep the screen on during a call, it keeps going off unlike a Nokia and iPhone.
2) Volume - min volume on speakerphone is still so loud, I think even my neighbours can hear it lol and it has only 5 levels of sound or something, where in iPhone, there is 10-15.

I went into Apple store today as I was passing by, and checked out the iPhone 5. It immediately felt "a few years behind". Compared to what GS3 offers, I thought of iPhone 5 not being any different than an iPod touch.

The whole iPhone menu and UI is so not interesting any longer, whereas I pick the GS3 and unlock the screen thinking "hmm what am I going to learn this time ?".

Wait for the Lumia 920 later this month. Go WP7!

Ok.....everyone knows that i am an iOS(iPhone type user), now recently i just got a Samsung Galaxy S3(Android), and i am here to say, that the Android OS to date, is really really awesome, a lot of nice useful features to enable....and i am honestly saying, that i am glad to have made the switch.

The switch was easy, because there was an easy transition with Easy Phone Sync, and it integrates with my iTunes, and transfer much needed data.
I did know about Kies, but chose to rather start with E.P.S first, but Kies is also great, as i used it afterwards. I will use both on certain occasions.

Concerning what most people say on the web about the Samsung cheap plastic feel and looks, i actually don't feel or see this with the S3, it feels good in my hands.
And i have big hands, so the big screen falls into place, and i enjoy the bigger screen.....the big screen on the i5 was a delight too.

Plus all the Apps are there too.

More to come......

I hear this from more and more people who previously where devoted iOS users, myself included. Personally I am waiting for the new WP8 offerings, gonna compare it with Android JB and make the call. time to to short some APPL shares perhaps?

By the time WP8 comes out, Android JB will probably be Android KLP (key lime pie) or whatever android 4.2 will be named.

But next Nexus will be from LG so it kinda makes me depressed..but the good news is theyre planning on opening the Nexus program to other manufacturers. Which means more Stock Android devices but at the same time its more complicated for the dev community to work with different components :S

Sweet!

Fisticuffs and a labour Strike at the iPhone assembly line in China

"It was reported that factory management and Apple, despite design defects, raised strict quality demands on workers, including indentations standards of 0.02mm and demands related to scratches on frames and back covers. With such demands, employees could not even turn out iPhones that met the standard. This led to a tremendous amount of pressure on workers."

"there was a fight between workers and quality control inspectors in area K that led to the damage in inspection room CA, the injury of some people, and the hospitalization of others."

"quality control inspectors fell into to conflicts with workers and were beat up multiple times by workers."

whats your point?

you are weird....son

Apple maps are seeing improvements, already.

And its just an App.

And google added streetview to their web app....same data, same thing.

I witness first hand with a Rogers salesman in-store, that he was pushing Android devices over any.

When my wife went into the store to pickup a pre-ordered i5, the salesman told her that she should get the S3 instead. Whoa dude, take it easy.
She later realized, that although the phone itself is awesome, the software iOS is boring(because she was jailbroken prior), the same look over and over, and i agree.....Apple need to step it up with further versions, because it is do-able.

A 60+ year old woman came into Rogers, and she said someone in her family recommended she get the iPhone 4S.....He immediately took her to the S3 and the Note, she left with the S3 and a very huge plan. She was confused with what he was telling her, but she still took it.

Most 60 yr old people aren't too sure about technology and should have someone with them when they buy a phone

Sales droids get a huge commission for selling android devices, apple they get nothing, hence they push the androids. When I went for my iPhone last year the guy was really pushing an older droid device even though I was insistent on my iPhone. Salesmen aren't interested in what's best for you, they want the biggest commission.

As someone who knows the sales structure for every wireless company in Canada, that statement is completely FALSE. Barring one off manufacturer promotions, it doesn't matter in the least what phone you buy to the salesman. Its the plans that count. Also, with iPhone's usually carrying the highest outright value, it may actually be better to sell the it along with all its high mark up accessories.

Just installed Android 4.0 (had 2.3). It's better in small increments in everything, but I'm not blown away by it.

Jelly Bean is a big improvement. It was released for my Nexus S, but now waiting for Rogers to release it for my S2, unfortunately Rogers is terrible at releasing updates.
