who's still riding? (in toronto)

I just came back from a 3 hr ride on my new Ninja 300 in the wind:

Review/comparison with today's crazy strong wind ride:

CBR125 - Thrown all over in my lane and struggling to hit 100km/h with headwind in 40km/h winds.

Ninja300 - Wind gusts felt more like a nudge with the occasional 70km/h wind gusts hitting me obviously pushing me a bit - this was in the country side (but not as much as the CBR125). Was able to hit 130km/h (about 3/4 throttle) with ease in 50km/h headwind.

Basically loving it...

Roads between Woodbridge, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, and Markham seem like its free from any salt/sand/brine btw.

congratulations! :D

Got out for a couple hours today. Tons of crap all over the Niagara backroads cause of the wind, hit a decent sized piece of twig with my front tire and launched it onto the top of my foot. Hurt like hell for a bit!

I had to swerve around a large, empty cardboard box that was flying sideways on Lakeshore.

Was probably Rob Ford's new mobile home.

Definitely gusty on the highway, but nice riding weather otherwise today. Beats the TTC by a gazillion miiles. I love my bike. I love riding my bike. A perfect day. I pity the fool who doesn't ride.

very cold today :( Almost time to put the bike away.

Quick question, I had Water Wetter in the bike took out about 2 cups from the coolent system and put in 2 cups of antifreeze. Will that be enough not to freeze over night. going down to -4 tonight.

water wetter is technically antifreeze, isn't it? So you are just replacing the same amount of antifreeze, shouldn't have any problem

As of right now, the forecast is sun/clouds on Monday/Tuesday/Friday, with temps between 8 - 12 above. Hardly looks like it's time just yet!

Stator is dying on my bike, but still riding around town, keeping revs up to charge, and carry a portable plug in jumper in my cases while I'm waiting for the parts to come in. this is actually some of my favourite riding weather. Love being able to get geared up without sweating like an Ontario Mayor.

i just went out for a ride this morning, temp's were showing -1 on my display, but it was nice and refreshing, though i was yelling my mouth off how freaking cold it is... but it's all good.

saw a guy on a 125 cbr and on a old classic bmw bike riding around as well... glad i wasn't the only one out this morning

yeah i'll be heading back out myself as well, take advantage and enjoy the day.. ride safe :)

Just came back. There was brine out on highway 7 in markham and puddles beneath shadows had slush/ice. Double layer gloves if possible unless you have heated gloves :P

With a small investment in heated gear, can ride all day on a day like today. It never got over 2C, and I wasn't cold at all.
I've had heated gloves for a few seasons now, and just added a heated jacket liner and boot insoles, and each piece is a game
changer. I'm nnot interested in surviving the ride, I want to enjoy it start to finish. Anybody who says it's a waste of money,
I disagree, a parked bike is a waste of money to me.

+1. While I could dress for bellow 0 rides I felt like the Michelin man.

I am looking at the teknic freeway jacket for cold riding. Love the collar on it. That jacket and a heated liner would be an awesome combo.
