who's still riding? (in toronto)

You need better gloves, obviously your gloves dont work in colder weather. You wont be 'comfortable' riding in cold weather, but you get used to the cold eventually the more you ride in cold weather.

My gloves are full leather gauntlets with zero perforation. I'm not sure how much better I can get 'til I buy heated gloves or full winter gloves with the protective element.

I use Warm 'n Safe "Ultimate Touring" gloves. They're reasonably water resistant, heat well, and offer some sport-glove-ish protection like knuckle guards, etc. I will often take them with me on fall rides even when I don't have my heater cables, just to enjoy dry hands in case it rains.

Warm 'n Safe also has "Ultimate Sport" gloves, but they ditch the water resistance, I believe.

anybody have experience with gloves similar to these? : http://www.spidi.com/eu/eu_en/motorcycle-gloves/str-2.html

They're not heated per se, but they have microfleece lining as well as a windproof & waterproof membrane. I wonder if these would be enough in the colder temps? Would the windproof membrane be enough to combat the windchill?

I bought a pair of windproof / waterproof A* gloves before and thought they would help...they do for a short amount of time.

However with time on the highway they get cold regardless and my hands get numb anyway. Also the water can seep in from behind so that would defeat the purpose of the waterproof part. I thought they were fully waterproof, but after a good rain the water gets in anyway and it's just frustrating.

I can't wait for my heated gloves to come in though! But it'll be after the season is over.

Still riding, although not today. Full heated gear takes the edge off so I can ride till the snow flies or I just get tired of gearing up.

You can get silk liners that you put on before donning your gloves. Those help a bit with warmth.

thanks for the feedback. I guess it's only up to a certain point that these windproof gloves can protect you from the cold. I guess some sort of heated element is required.

Was riding with other 5 bikes last night. No heated gear, just brought our balls with us.

Fun Fun...

-15C? What the hell do you wear to keep warm..

Regular clothes under a bit bigger 1 pc set of leathers. Ski jacket and sled pants over that. Regular socks with a pair of thermal socks over that inside bigger boots. My toes do get chilled though. Heated grips and wind deflectors work great.

For -16c, I found I was very comfortable with heated gloves and a jacket liner from Warm 'n Safe, my usual 3/4 length textile riding jacket, heavy wool long johns under a typical pair of jeans, heavy riding socks under a pair of TRQ-Tour (Goretex) riding boots. Did about 60km 3 days in a row, about half of that at highway speeds. I may have also used a set of Aerostich lobsterclaw nylon overgloves, I can't remember.

For longer trips below zero, the overgloves are a must. As are breadbags as oversocks inside the boots.

Incredible gusts on the 427 this morning. Must be entertaining for cagers to see us lean into the wind to keep going straight.

LOL, I went to pass somebody this morning on the DVP and I was nearly blown over as soon as I was passing the car beside me! That was quite the jolt!

rode yesterday, rode today, weather's fine

I rode this AM. I would describe it as a "bad ride". The reason is because of cheap OEM tires on cold WET roads (not raining, just wet all over surfaces) while being shoved hard by wind on a light 250.

It got to the point that I was holding the throttle between the tips of my index finger and thumb to try and minimize all the steering movements the bike would do if it has a solid grip and your arm/body is being jostled.

Says wind gust warnings of 100 km/hr for the province. This worries me that I will come back and find my bike blown over by the wind in the parking lot. That would suck. If not, then gale force sudden gusts waiting later?

I don't know how much top of the line tires would make a difference on road grip but I really don't like the OEM tires I have. They feel like they should only be used on sunny summer days.
