My season is done.. took a fall this morning braking to hard on some wet leaves.. bike is a little scratched up so no big deal but i fractured my forearm..yay!
No clue how I'm going to get my bike in storage..
So true. My friend rode her FZ1 up north last year to have suspension work done over the winter. The shop promised to rinse down the bike but forgot -- her brand new FZ1 looked 10 yrs old. Same for my new Vstrom - brine ate thru plating in one season on spokes, brake fittings an most fasteners. I...And to some the worst thing is that their bikes instantly decompose into a pile of rust at the first indication of it.)

I wish. I'll post pics tomorrow of what salt & brine did to a new Vstrom.Plating on spokes???....are they not stainless steel? I don't think modern bikes suffer much from brine unless you try and wash it off all the time especially with recycled water.
You'd think snowmobiles would be piles of junk.
A note for those whose bikes decompose at the first hint of salt on the roads:
I noticed last night when I rode home from work (after 9pm.) I noticed that a good part of Bloomington had been brined. I am not sure where it started (I rode Bloomington from Keele to Goodwood)but I think it was Yonge to Leslie. I am sure many more roads will shortly be brined.

...
For those who care, my best advice would be to not ride on brined covered roads when they're wet (like I did), that stuff is nasty. If you're going to ride on brine covered roads, do it when it's dry.
FWIW I have been riding on roads that had been brined, both wet and dry, since I got my first V-Strom in 2006. (I'm in my third.) My 2006 was retired at 202,000+ km, my 2012 was sold at 139,500 km, and my 2015 has over 153,000 km and have never had any issues with rusting although center and side stand pivot points need to be lubed a bit more often than they would in summer.

Yowza! How do you manage to rack up so many kms?! That's awesome.

If you're going to ride on brine covered roads, do it when it's dry. Or (and ideally), completely cover your bike in ACF-50 (sans brake rotors) like the above poster mentioned.
