Who's still riding? (Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 edition)

My bike is sleeping again. Starting tonight it looks like we're in for a week of very brrr temps.

49 days until spring.

Rode my new 2016 Honda CB500X from Milton Honda to Oakville on January 28. Since Tires were still new I need to avoid and sudden stops. -1Deg, wet roads with 40 km winds did not seem to cause any problems. Bike in Garage hooked up to Battery tender. Bike handle well, glad I bought it. Will wait for a bit milder weather before taking it out on the road again.

Little vid from sunday in Brantford.I crashed big time shortly after we got there and was side lined with a f'd up wrist.Mud and roots were VERY slippery.

Get the wrist looked at, dude. I broke mine in a MC wreck in 1995...and to this day, 21 years later, I still feel it.

I was at that invincible stage of life where I thought removing the cast 2 weeks early was smart, and then I ignored physiotherapy.

Thanks. It's just bruised and the impact on my arthritic joints are a problem.A little rest and it will be fine.Years ago a fall at a trackday wasn't nearly this bad.Getting old sucks i guess.

It was the day after my wreck before I realized my sore wrist might need to be looked at - in the immediate aftermath the shock and adrenaline blotted out the wrist pain I guess. I went back to the hospital and had some Xrays done and it was discovered it was broken.

Hopefully just something minor for you indeed, but from someone with previous experience, if it's still sore in a few days...have it checked out.

And yes, getting old sucks. **** starts falling apart at 40, I swear, but I had a lot of fun in my younger years. It catches up unfortunately.

I'll be 64 in a month.I highsided at Cayuga years ago and had to be careful my wife didn't see my bruises from a dislocated shoulder for 6 weeks.I'm not Chuck Norris..but i'm tough enough.I will get it checked out if pain persists. Thanks PP.

Edit:A bud has the tumble on video.I'll post it up when he does. You'll lol when you see it.Really lame.

Hehe very cute

....not not be cruel but picking up the KLR just now ...a humid 28 here in sunny Cairns.....I'll blip a throttle for y'all ;)

now now be nice :D

hard to get cool enough tho....KLR ran like a champ...3 rd year on the Lithium battery and guy that takes care of the bike is very impressed.
I was changing batteries every year.
Got my shifter adjusted for the big boots so thats a plus ...might even try putting the touring screen on since I have a 1800 km trip coming but for sure gonna ride more than feb-april 2016 ....pretty dismal mileage and partly weather partly me....2015 was so outstanding for riding right into December I wasn't so motivated to get on the KLR.
Glad I brought the armored shirt, much cooler and I grabbed my kid's with the armored back plate on by accident and felt okay....bit warm but nice protection

Okay first ride.

......

Pretty creaky after 250 km ....not helped by my boot sole too fat for the shift lever. Had a decent burger for lunch ...got wet got dry - rinse repeat about 6 times.
Armored shirt was excellent...was dry 1/2 km from home - got home wet

Very slippery out there.Especially on broken concrete slabs that bite you in the face.My bud needed a few stitches this morning. This is why we always ride in pairs.

Are trials helmets 3/4 sized because of the lack of visibility (ie. can't see where the landing is) or lack of mobility (ie. can't sufficiently tuck chin in) due to the chinbar of full face helmets when the front wheel is directly above the rear wheel? Or is it for some other reason?

Yes,visibility is critical. Some riders wear MX style lids, but for the most part we wear 3/4 style super light trials lids.

An update on my buds condition. He'll be going back to the hospital.MRI shows 3 fractures in his face. :(

February has been a dud for riding so far. Still 3 weeks left though, hoping to get out at least once to keep my 1.5 year streak alive. ;)
