Who's still riding? (Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 edition)

uh ok,with all due respect sir I think you missed the sarcasm in my post.I was joking around

The weather were getting now is incredible for january,I rode the day before christmas or christmas day(don't recall the exact day )can't remember the last time I did that,if ever....anyways ,hope you enjoy your ride home from work

I should have put a smiley face after my pony comment.

I agree that any riding in January is bonus riding. By the time I get home tonight I will have ridden more than last January.

..Tom

Did you miss the entirety of last winter? It was a cakewalk compared to this one, heck, I put around 2000K on my bike between October and April. It was 23 degrees on Christmas day!

Anyhow, as for today....it's still cloudy out this way and the roads are still sloppy. I want to ride, I just don't want to have to wash the bike afterwards. :angry7:

I was out yesterday for the first time this year, I decided to haul the hose out so I could ride and wash the bike off this weekend. It's 8C here right now and I'm itching to get out.

That was such a great day, did a very memorable 750km Algonquin run.

I took my bike off the road in October last year to do a somewhat extensive project on it in anticipation of a ****** winter and was kicking myself the whole time when the weather turned out to be awesome.A serious face palm for weeks

Looking at the satellite imagery...there's a big patch of relatively clear sky over Lake Erie right now headed this way...webcams in the areas confirm scattered clouds and mostly sunny.

Hopefully it arrives out this way before sunset. ;)

Certainly as good as you can ask for Jan. Weak sun, 6 degrees no wind. Was much nicer on the way home. Chiily toes the only discomfort.

Man i need a beater bike, or need to start caring less. Lots of you are OK with going out in this sloppy salty mess. Screw the temperature, the roads are gross. Bike aside, I don't feel like washing my gear each time I ride for a couple hours. Yes angry I can't ride.

Main roads are fine, dry even despite no sun today. 95% of the salt is gone courtesy of all the rain.

I did end up getting out for about 45 minutes. That's 16 months straight, and counting. Next up, February. ;)

Darlington Park Road (hardly used this time of year) was a bit dodgy (lots of sand) but all the other roads were fine. No spray/dirt/brine on the bike at all even with 30-40K on the ODO.

Private pilot-I spent the winter in Ellliot lake in 2010 or 2011( can't recall exactly).Their was a day in February the temp was 14 c.I rode highway 108 down to 17 ,did a stretch of 17 and then headed back to Elliot lake,That was an incredible day.

All this talk of winter riding got me thinking about a guy who goes by the name bwoken tooth on advrider. He rode from I think Owen Sound to a remote native reservation way up north in sub zero temps.I'd post the video here but I don't know how.Anyone who is interested can search YouTube or advrider,It absolutely blew me away that anyone would attempt a mission like that.Pretty sure he did it to draw attention to the horrendous amount of suicides on reserves. This guy put his life in jeopardy, full props go out to bwoken tooth,thAt took a lot of balls

Edit-just watched the video on YouTube.-20c--30c temps in the middle of no where on a busted up klr, unreal

Saw a guy out on a Grom yesterday in Keswick, I would have gotten out but had some work at my parents place to do. Foggy and slick all day I bet!

IIRC the last time I took more than 4 or 5 days off from riding 'something' was Jan & Feb 2010. ;)
