Who's still riding? (Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 edition)

I was really looking forward to getting out next weekend if the forecast held, however the impending ice storm tomorrow morning already has them brining the roads and I'm sure they will be salt covered in short order as soon as it starts coming down.
I live in Barrie. The city made a big deal announcement this year about using less salt. They've made good on that, every road in town is ice, but when it thaws it's clean at least.

How's the parts supply on the older models like a ty250 for example. I've been keeping my eyes open thinking I could try some vintage events.

The 1976 Ty175 my daughter rides has readily available parts from your local Yamaha dealer.I ordered gaskets and an air filter for it and it took a week to come in a month ago.Are you on facebook? There are a bunch of active Ty guys that i could put you in touch with.

Picked up a windshield for the HOG off Kijiji. Don't like the look but hoping it takes the edge off the wind.

Maybe get a ride in once I get back from Montreal this week?

I'm thinking the hope of getting out this weekend have faded away, indeed they have laid down an insane amount of salt in my neighbourhood – there is a trail (just dropped, not spread) of salt down the middle of all of the streets in my subdivision about 1 inch thick, I **** you not.

Yeah they spread it like they're putting down a gravel walkway at my workplace. The amount of salt becomes almost as much of a hazard as ice would be.

They did the same on my street. Just a nice 3ft wide strip of salt up the middle of the road.

Tomorrow was actually looking decent - the salt has washed away, and the forecast *was* for 7 degrees and partly sunny tomorrow afternoon.

And now they changed it to drizzle all day. :/

I rode to work yesterday and today. Expect to ride tomorrow as well.

Fired up the CBF today and unpinned the Vstrom from it's nest of boxes.
If it hits 8 I'm riding unless the rain is torrential....now just have chase where the rain pants landed,,,,likely topcase

THere is a good chance the weather guy is wrong on the rain .

.

I'd like that right now.

There's a 1- 6" layer of ice and snow on our street, and the plows don't look to have come in weeks.

Surrounding streets are bare asphalt, and covered in salt.

Was it something I said?

The Patrol man in your area should take note and report at the end of the day to his Supervisor.
Usually the next day salt trucks should be there.

Yeah, but I probably won't go out unless the roads are dry. Not that I'm worried about traction or anything honestly, but there's still enough salt dust and such out there that mixed with rain...it'd likely brine up the bike really good...and I'm not into that, nor having to break out the garden hose and bucket and wash it when I'm back home. Not enjoyable at 7 degrees.

Tell whoever does my street to turn on the spinner thingie and at least spread it around next time instead of just dumping it in a big line. ;)

Foggy as hell out there but no sign of rain in any direction and 8 in the afternoon ...sounds rideable to me. :D

I think you have to change your expectations. You were never going to get a pony, be happy with what you got.

I had a nice foggy 80 km ride into work this morning. There was a little bit of ice on my driveway but the roads were fine. It was 0 or +1 until just before work were the fog broke and the temperature jumped to +2. Should be quite nice by the time I head home at 5.

looks like the top will be 6 and drizzle...
nice out now but a chilly 3

Nothing on the radar except Louisana getting mugged byt severe thunderstorms but that is pushing warm air to us. Drizzle is hard to see but nada just now

will wait til noon

Certainly rideable out there now ..sun peeking out even ..footing is slick but hey.
