What kinda boots do you wear?

Jeebus, Sidi's do that? That is some seriously expensive trash...

Absolutely, and Alpinestars do it too. I just doublechecked on my wife's SMX boot, same exact crap. It takes NO effort to bend em like that either.

I tried the same on my Dainese Torque boot and it takes 10x more effort to bend it 1/2 the distance. Daytonas are the same, the EVOs would need to get run over by a tank to bend that far.

Ahhh....not all A* boots are like this. There is absolutely no way I can bend my S-MX Plus over like this. The 2011 model has this Multi Link Control structure at the rear ankle to prevent this. I suspect their top race boot, the Supertech R, is much the same.

Im fairly sure I tried this on a Supertech boot as well and it bent in half, however, this was many years ago. I COULLLLLDDD be mistaken though, or maybe A* caught on and made a better design.

But it doesn't matter... because the Supertech R is a $500+ race boot when you can spend about $300ish on Dainese Torque boots with the same kind of protection. These 'lower end' boots from A* and Sidi are what most riders buy, and they're fooled into thinking they're getting extra levels of protection because there's a bunch of plastic crap glued to the outside.

Saved my foot/ankle when It got run over. Ankle Protection FTW. Probably one of the 5 best boots available.

Every review / video I have ever seen regarding Sidi has praised them in very high regards, as do the riders I have read about that went down while wearing them. So not really sure if some people are just haters, or what the case is. I personally love them.

What does it have to do with being a hater...Fact is if you can grab the boots with your hands and bend them in half. Thats a **** boot in terms of ankle protection! Try the same with a Daytona and its just not possible

I think the picture I linked earlier is pretty clear.

Some people love Lego's glued all over their boots.

I'll stick to the clean style and superior protection of the Torques, thanks.

I only know one person who crashed in a pair of vortices and they were none too happy when half the plastic knobs and **** broke off and went flying all over the place like skittles.

Thx for that pic, Glad I didn't pick up the SiDIs

Most boots do that. Most boots are simply abrasion and some what puncture resistant, but one can still severely twist or break an ankle or foot. The last couple of years many brands have stepped up to offer real protection (anti-twist and anti-hyper extension) in some of their top line boots. Daytona has been doing it for years.

For great protection, you should check out the $999 Daytona Security EVO G3 boot for racing. I understand many pro racers around the world use them if they can even if they are sponsored by other boot manufacturers. Kangaroo outside and non-twisting aramide hard-shell inner boot (bullet-proof kinda stuff). Not made for walking in! Very easy to put on and take off like my EVO SPORT`s.

The EVO Sports felt very good for walking the number of times I tried them on before I decided to spend the money. Can get them on in under 5 seconds per boot. They cannot be bent sideways. And they have no clips, buckles or anything on the outside which I like because then my foot will never get caught in a crack or hole in the payment if my foot gets caught under the bike, and therefore, greatly reducing the potential for any twisting or janking. Also if I get hit by a car hopefully my ankle will not get crushed because the non-twist inner boot will protect the feet. This is important to me as I have broken the ol`left ankle twice (once on the pavement, and once on a motocrosser - which bent the pin from the 1st time :) ). Do not need the third time to be a charm!
