Yeah that garage floor is waaaaayyyy cleaner and neater than mine. Very nice.

FZR is ready for spring startup, just need to put fuel in it.
ZX10R isn't getting winterised. It'll be ridden until the snow flies and resume being ridden when the snow clears. (If we get any snow. LOL)
The beast is now officially in need of tires. And a brake fluid flush. And front brake pads. Current plan is for one more rip tomorrow to use up some of the fuel in the tank and then put it up on stands to slowly start fiddling with it.
 
Today I finished up changing the oil pan on my old RAM. It’s been sitting for a while, starting to get rusty. When backing off the stands, a brake line burst.

Wife said I need a new truck! I called the local high school… they wanted the old girl so I a call to CAA and she is rehomed.

Donated.

Out with old, in with the new.

Ya. I can believe truck only had 150k on the clock. Bought her new for $17900 out the door in 2008(it was sitting on a Guelph dealers lot for 1+years).

Owed me nothing, I’ll get a tax receipt for donating.

I love the styling on those Toyota's. Looks better than the new ones in my opinion.

I don’t really need a truck, I just like having one. I’ll probably do 3-4K/year - big snow days, a couple winter trips to snowmobile country.

Wife likes it when she goes to Costco.

I sold my 2006 F150 earlier this year, with 326,000 km on it. I got $3,000 for it sight unseen within hours of listing it. Try not to think about what that truck with 150k km you gave away would've sold for lol

It had been sitting for a while as I was too lazy to reinstall the front diff (it's moved out of the way to change an oil pan and rather difficult to line up working without a hoist). It was a good example of what happens when stuff sits, needing the typical RAM rust repairs around rockers and box. It also burst a brake line.

I turned my first auto wrench at Markham District High School, I had an awesome shop teacher who was always willing to help and teach car stuff. I figure that still happens, they need projects to teach skills. They were pretty excited to get the truck, all their shop vehicles are clapped out scrap that doesn't run.

Anyhow, I'll get a tax receipt.
 
I have seen plenty of older F150 with 150/200k on the clock going for sub 5k pricing.

I’d be lying if I didn’t consider keeping the GTI and using that type of truck for my occasional needs.

Especially the older Ranger, B2000, Nissan Frontier (?) and S10 trucks as those have a special place in my heart for some reason.

Bare bones. Work trucks. Nothing else.

Small. Easy on the wallet, and no harm if you scratch or dent it.

The resonator delete pipe is < $100 from TEMU, who sent to me for free... and like when anything comes free in life, I was very concerned.

Is this going to sound like poop?

This thing is amazing!

It's not stupid loud, but it gives the bike more sound that is much more deep. It's outgoing but in no way obnoxious... whereas it used to be a quiet reserved subdued German. Touring will be no issue with it. It's quieter than my G650GS with a Dominator pipe, and maybe a little louder than my BMW G650GS with a Leo Vince in Italy. I tour on both.

I couple years ago when I had an F700GS in the garage, I put a pipe on it, and, it was pretty good... for an F700GS. There's just only so good that engine configuration can sound. But the F750GS/F850GS with it's 853cc twin firing at 270 degrees, and this resonator delete, **** me, it's given me a whole new level of respect for this motorcycle! It sounds like it commands more respect too!

Re: the weight savings, yup, saved 7.5 lbs. Along with switching to a lithium battery I've probably saved about 10-11 lbs now... but I'll add some GIVI brackets soon and that'll cancel out. Can't say I felt a difference if I'm being honest. This bike has 6" of travel in the back, 7" or so in the back, and electronic and dynamically adjustable suspension and is pretty well balanced, so it already handles great.

The only issues were:

1) It came with no rubber grommet. I thought putting one in would help avoid vibration so I kind of cut one to size and made it work.

2) The mount for the heat shield... You need to put the bolts in, in a certain order, or they won't both fit. Also part of the heat shield is rubbing against the exhaust (no clearance)... so I might take the heat shield off and grind that corner off.

All in all, considering this mod is < $100 and I] 30 minutes, what's not to love?

That seems like a very specific piece for Temu to have. Sounds like a great option, but how many of them could they possibly sell?

Worldwide? I think quite a few. Not a very complex shape, not huge to ship and durable so few would get damaged in shipping. Sounds like a great product for them.

All that ^, plus, who knows what their distribution is like. Maybe those get shipped directly from a manufacturer who just lists them on Temu. No idea. They're also on Ali and Amazon too.

I get where you're coming from though @robertv19 - I posted the video in a few facebook groups and forums and was surprised by the number of people who already had them. About 80% liked them, maybe 20% said they were too loud as their complaint... which is a little crazy to me. As far as exhaust mods go, this is pretty modest in volume gain. Not sure what they realistically expected when you got rid of their resonators... Good old people, never a dull moment :rolleyes:

If you already had a lpud slip-on (or gasp a gp muffler), I could see it being obnoxious as you are approaching straight piped.

Ken will usually say $1,000. Sometimes it ends up to $800 and if he finds something else in there it could go over the $1,000. In that $1k will often be a new air filter and if the one in there is pretty clean he'll blow it out and reuse it which will knock $75ish off the bill, so stuff like that swings the $1k estimate.

Exactly what @Hardwrkr13 said. Ken told me the 2v air cooled motor are much simpler than the liquid cooled 4v motors so sub 1k.

Also doing the handlebar swap so it’s a bit extra.

GP quoted me $2600…
 
A set of forks are lying on the bench clean, painted and assembled w/o seals or oil. Hope to get the seals and oil into them this morning. The mating triples are painted and waiting for me to order new bearings.
I'm waiting on some parts so I may pull the valve covers and check the valve clearance (1100 Goldwing). Really looking forward to this as I think it's likely the easiest ones to do with the heads so easy to access. I should be fondling feeler gages from the comfort of my wheelie stool. ( sorry @mimico_polak not trying to rub it in...)
Well that's kind of the plan. After some coffee and a little of the jazz lettuce I could well get distracted and end up spending a couple hours fabricating some minor bracket.
No matter how you slice it any day spent puttering with bikes in the garage is a day well spent.
