We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Doesn't that set some precedent that could be cited for future cases/sentencing?
No, because cops>regular people. It'll set a precedent for other cops breaking firearms laws though.

I don't know about that. Only a tiny percent of legal handgun owners will risk jail time for an extra gun or to make some cash.
If you mean already illegal guns, yes that will continue but the ban doesn't affect those anyways.
I mean generally law-abiding citizens who want to own guns for non-nefarious reasons.

Maybe these are current enthusiasts who have a couple of target pistols but would like a couple more. Or a responsible young person who has become who sees his older friends with a privilege he may never get. Or an old fart who may have legally acquired or inherited handguns but never got an RPAL so he could register his legally obtained firearms.

Finally had my PAL approved mid January. Still no card in the mail unfortunately, seems they had some delays with printer issues and changing to a new card format.

Very excited to finally get my card in the mail! Already speccing out a good-ish entry "precision" setup with a .22lr CZ457 or T1x, scope etc. Then onto the antique soviet goodies when I can find some good examples

Just have to figure out how to get out to shoot more. Have gone once or twice a year with some people on crown land, but finding a way to do it more regularly is definitely something I'd like to do.

My rpal showed up end of October just a bit too late. Wife still waiting for her renewal almost a year after sending it in.

Yeah, it seems hit or miss with when you get processed.

I've read of people (and even have friends) who've been waiting for 1-2 years. I submitted my papers mid December, so I got really lucky with being approved and issued in a month. Hoping my luck didn't run out at the very last step of the process. Might give them a call again next week to see if there's any news.

Just me or is the “well Covid…” the battle cry for any govt agency not getting anything done in a timely fashion? It’s mostly behind us know , we are learning to live with it , and yet . It’s take a number , your twelve billion and seven on the list .

I feel like they purposely delayed the new rpals to keep any from being able to get a handgun in time. Most of the pistols my wife ordered in the spring still aren't here yet waiting for the paperwork.

Any good used gun sites to check out that don’t require a bunch of hoops to jump through like some of the forums ask before being able to view the classifieds? I’ve found gunpost but mostly just seeing firearms listed for $100 less than what it costs new.

That’s what the classifieds are like recently for some reason. Unrealistic quotes for a lot of things, especially anything interesting. If you want a ruger 10/22 or variant then you should be fine but anything centre fire non-restricted and semi-automatic you’re not saving much over new.

If you cruise the Reddit firearms forums you can see current offers around the country. I nabbed a Tikka T1X in a sale not too long ago.

Thanks, I don’t much look at Reddit but I’ll take a look and keep an eye on it.

I use gun post and a couple spots like Ontario trap shooters site , but small groups like that are very gun specific. I have found things on gun post that worked for me , but deals don’t last a day , sometimes an hour .

Any real deals seem to be snapped up by some guys that are just resellers.

Yes that happens also , like anything else , buy cheap , flip at a profit.
I don’t have time to shop perpetually, I find the best deals happen at the gun clubs , either on the buliten board or person to person . I lot of very nice guns are sold to guys that are in the right place , right time.

Reddit banned and made selling any firearms against their TOC a few years back.
I actually started the subreddit r/firearmdealscanada right after because the loophole was that you were allowed to post deals and sales just not have direct exchanges advertised or done on Reddit.

Canadiangunnutz does make you get verified through some steps before you can access their BST sides but they have the most listings IMO. The pricing is a bit higher on average though.

Unless you get lucky or know someone, I've found that snagging good deals on new is almost the same price or lower than buying used for most popular guns.
