We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

There is always the possibility that he did not know what’s in the truck .
Were I to be a smuggler, the weak link would be the guy talking with border security, I would use trucks that had no idea they were being ‘used’

Realistically though the beauty of a blind mule is being able to pick a person that customs would consider low risk.

As expected, the vaughan shooting is being used to support the narrative. SIU is sure to say "semi-automatic" in their release. JT says semi-automatic. Board president (who is also ATU president) says "semi-automatic assault weapon". Obviously, with the very apparent mental health spiral FV was on, access to weapons was a bad combination. I doubt a revolver would have changed the outcome (other than changing the sound bites).

How does a guy with a restraining order since 2018? Have access to firearms legally??

Maybe he doesn't? I haven't seen any information on whether the gun was legal or not (nor how he gained access to it).

In his rants, he seemed like an old-school kind of guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he had one without the appropriate paperwork (which makes it hard to seize when a restraining order is issued).

From one article, not sure how this former board member knew he had a license but must have come up in conversation at some point.

"Resident John Santoro said Monday that he knew Velli had a firearms acquisitions certificate but that he didn't know if Velli actually owned a gun. He said he also knew about Velli's issues with the condo board.

"I know the history and I know the man. I know the board of directors. I know this has been brewing for a long time. And I've commented to my wife several times that this is going to end very badly," Santoro said."

Don't expect news articles to put out a big correction letting everyone know if it comes out that it was not in fact a semi-automatic handgun. Wouldn't look as good for gun ban.

in the handgun world there is an awful lot of semi automatics , its a pretty common thing . and I'm afraid to say as @GreyGhost pointed out there is possibility of a no paperwork gun floating around.

not handguns but I personally know at least 6 people with long guns , none of them have paperwork to own them and they are stored under beds and standing in closets .

Any idea on the percentage of handguns that are semi? I would think there are far more pistols than revolvers. Not that it matters for most situations, either one (or a single action) gets the first six bullets out really quickly.

W. T. F. So anyone can just get a job as a delivery driver and smuggle drugs/guns across the border and claim they didn't know what was in the boxes?

According to the article.. He mistakenly ended up at the border crossing. That's actually not uncommon.
His DNA wasn't on the boxes...
There was no evidence to indicate he knew what was in the boxes...

FACs haven't been in use since 1995. So if true he didn't have his gun legally.

When has news media ever put out any corrections?

FAC / PAL , model train engineer’s licence…… don’t expect todays media to fact check much , or understand some have genuine interest in a story with things that would concern them .
Investigative journalism is rare , and often edited , by editors that don’t care .

Weee. Watch the wheels of corruption and excess spending spin. Liberals looking into outsourcing gun buyback program. So a program that was already budgeted an order of magnitude low now enlists a friend of the party to cost even more. This may end up costing two orders of magnitude more than they have budgeted.

Is an order of magnitude, like an airplane dollar or a boat buck? No body is sure , it’s just always lots ??

Just replied to sign a petition with the Conservative Party to stop the hunting rifle ban and buyback
It immediately took me to a support team Poliviere donation page . Our opposition party now resorting to click bait . It’s a bit sad .

Anyone into tactical shotguns?
Looking at pumps (Winchester SXP, Mossburg 500/590, Benelli Supernova).
And semis (Beretta 1301, Benelli M2, Mossburg 940).
Any opinions between them?
