Then click on Deaths per 1M pop and see how far 26th ranked Florida has to go to catch 2nd ranked New York.

What happened yesterday that makes a side look bad never matters. Only thing that matters is what makes the other side look bad today. You can't be messing with the narrative that way, it's very unproductive.

On a serious note, Florida has been wide open, virtually the entire time, and has basically the same case count per capita as New York. But they managed to shake off the deaths.

If there was ever a comparison to show lockdown down society didn't work, and didn't save lives. These two states are it.

The virus has a significantly shorter lifespan outside the body in higher humidity vs low. Like most if not all viruses. It is one of the reasons this one and other viruses like the flu virus drop in the summer and outbreak in the winter. It does not stop the virus, it just reduces the infection rate, one of many factors as obviously some hot humid areas had massive outbreaks. We even see it and saw it here in Ontario last summer and even likely a factor with vaccine rates in our numbers now.

Long and short, Florida can get away with being more relaxed as they have an environmental advantage year around. It is one of many factors that impact the numbers (age, density, behaviour, mask use, vaccine rates, lock downs, etc.) it is not the end all be all.

Even orangeman knew this and it is why he said back then it was all going away in the summer....but he thought it was a silver bullet which it is not.... Surprised when people don't know this about the virus and Florida??????

Here’s an incredible website I found this morning that demonstrates several things about the USA right now:

1/ Vaccines work. When people take them.
2/ People who refuse to take them seem (not surprisingly) to live in red states.
3/ Covid Delta is now ravaging through those red states.

It’s a great website to poke around at.

Anyone who continues to claim the vaccines are a waste of time or whatever is full of bunk, end stop. The facts show this clear as day now.

Interesting. Where data is available for "at least one dose", it is very close to the fully vaccinated numbers (within a few percent) in a quick scan of the country. This would seem to indicate that they have hit a wall with people that want to get vaccinated completing the course and the remainder don't want it (or can't get it but I suspect that will be a small number).

That is supported by this: COVID Data Tracker

Press the "people receiving dose 1" button on the CDC site, for another way of looking at this.

Basically same information presented differently and available for different countries: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccinations - Statistics and Research

The USA's vaccination numbers have been relatively stable (increasing slowly) for several weeks because of their slowing vaccination rates.

We're not in that situation ... our "people receiving at least 1 dose" situation has been fairly stable for a while, but the number with both doses was 30.90% two weeks ago and is now 46.39%, and the rate of increase is still pretty good.

All of this could probably be debunked if a person took the time to go fact check it

IIF my aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle. Probably?
Who knows maybe she does and is

What is there to debunk?

Look at election results state by state..

Look at vaccination rates state by state.

Look at delta Covid resurgence in the last 30 days.

There's zero question whatsoever there's correlations. They're clear as day.

Numbers are a funny thing, it all depends on how you massage them, and what your agenda is.

For new cases per capita, sure there is an indication of one way, 8 of 10 States Voted for the Republicans.

StateNew Cases/100,000
1Missouri
47
2Arkansas
33
3Florida
33
4Louisiana
33
5Nevada
30
6Wyoming
25
7Utah
22
8Mississippi
19
9Oklahoma
18
10Arizona
14

But for new deaths per capita, 6 of 10 are states that voted Democrat.

StateNew Deaths/100,000
1Maine
0.7692
2Nevada
0.4839
3New Mexico
0.4762
4Rhode Island
0.3636
5Minnesota
0.3036
6Louisiana
0.2826
7Montana
0.2727
8Idaho
0.2222
9Florida
0.2093
10Georgia
0.1792

So CNN can report, "Republican states are unvaccinated and are causing all the cases!".

While Fox turns around and reports "Democratic states make up most of the top 10 for new deaths".

This divisive culture needs to end.

One stat that I can't seem to find is what percentage of new cases are in people that have received a vaccine. I would think that this would be great marketing to push more to get vaccinated. The UK has the largest current surge in cases and 70% of adults vaccinated, but couldn't find the above data.

Since the data isn't being thrown out there, not sure if we are going to like the answer. I'll take the tin foil hat off now.

Don't know about cases, but it is being well publicised that most new hospitalisations and deaths are among the unvaccinated. Example Nearly all COVID deaths in US are now among unvaccinated

Thank you, couldn't find anything outside of statements like the referenced 99% of deaths are unvaccinated.

Still have to wonder why any major health agency is not releasing hard numbers, would be excellent marketing to push vaccines.

I'm not sure where the line is, but privacy and vaccinations are bumping heads. School boards, unions and province all say they don't (and won't) track teacher vaccinations. So we return to school in the fall with plans based on an assumed number of teachers (and students >12) vaccinated with no hard numbers to confirm the assumptions. Hurray. I can't see how that could go wrong.

They are releasing numbers, the numbers are not as good as they are promising. Take for example the claims that the vaccines prevent 94% of serious Delta cases. Well the UK is actually checking every COVID test for variants and publishes that data to the public.

Looking at publication 15 and 18 we get a range for June 7th to June 28th. Unvaccinated Rate rate during this period was 36.1%. While Double Vaccinated average was 40% during this time period. So normalizing the two different population sizes we get the following.

Calculating overnight hospitalizations during this time period;
Unvaccinated 931 * (40%/36.1%) = 1,032
Vaccinated 271 * (36.1%/40%) = 246

(1,032 - 246) / (1,032) = 76.2% ... Not 94%.

Calculating deaths during this time period;
Unvaccinated 69 * (40%/36.1%) = 76
Vaccinated 106 * (36.1%/40%) = 96

(76 - 96) / (76) = -26.3%

Israel just revised down their 94% effective rate to 64% of the vaccines for Delta cases. With time they are likely going to revise down the effective rate of serious cases. Likely waiting for their 3rd shot program to be completed, and/or a Pfizer Delta specific booster before breaking the news.

But science is always right, a 30% decrease is just a rounding error. Nothing is based on politics.

While your analysis looks reasonable, 30 to 70% improvement is still a very valuable jump. I agree, I would prefer to have more science and less marketing/politics in the policies.

30 to 70% improvement is still a very valuable jump.

That reduction in deaths has a "-" in front because right now the double vaccinated in the UK are dying at a faster rate then unvaccinated.

The old and vulnerable have the highest death rate while the young (under 50) have an infinitely small rate of death with regards to COVID in general. So what the numbers are saying, we are likely protecting many of our old and vulnerable who have been vaccinated. But many are likely to still die from the Delta variant.

Combine the death figures out of England, and Israel now saying the vaccines are 64% effective against the Delta variant. Well, the Ministry of Health not requiring negative tests of vaccinated visitors at LTC homes, is a death sentence.
