Tmp thurs may 2

But, I have to say, I was disappointed in some people in intermediate. They were nowhere near the pace I've previously seen there. TMP need to get their act together and start enforcing some basic guidelines. Letting people choose their own level isn't working.

It honestly looked like some of those on the track with you were out for leisurely drive. Friggin dangerous to be that slow in an intermediate group.

Does it really give you all such great pleasures being so rude with the newbies? I should try it sometime. (EDIT: this is for few posts up, not the ones for the intermediate group. I was in green anyway.)

FYI, dear absolute fastest Pro's (because I'm sure you all are such with immaculate proven record!), I'll be lucky if I do 7-8 track days this summer. And since I don't ride on the street, what better way to spend the days/weeks in between other than looking at the data, planning ahead, etc...even if it's practicing putting warmers on and off? And this was my 4th track day ever! If I may ask, how many days have you spent at the track in your life? Ever thought that maybe that's why you're so fast?! Getting tired of picking on the new guys? You know what---I bet I'm much faster at many other things (not motorcycle related) than you will ever be in your lifetimes! Who's da boss now?

^ Can't take you seriously without some data supporting your claims.

FWIW, I haven't spun a wheel on any track yet.

Speaking for myself I find nearly 100% of the dialogue between you and TAFB boring and thread jacking. If you want to pollute every thread with your boring posts and boring dialogue then either start a different thread or put up with the criticism. And anyone who dialogues with TAFB the way you do must have issues to begin with.

When I was 3 or 4 trackdays old I used my mouth and ears in the ratio they were installed. You, and your ilk, spend way too much time running your mouth and clogging up bandwidth with nonsense. And the little time you do spend with your ears open its to listen to TAFB. Dear oh ****ing dear.

I rode in green yesterday. Only goals were to get familiar with the bike, re-familiarize myself with counter steering, knee dragging, blipping properly, and get back into riding shape as I've had a two year hiatus. I had fun, and was glad I didn't sign up for yellow seeing the cluster**** that was happening there. Yellow has always been a weird group at TMP but yesterday certainly moreso, perhaps because it was the first day of the year.

I was barely able to walk due to soreness and didnt even participate in the last session.

The guy running the trackday didn't seem to know what the norm was for passing rules were. The track marshal at the turtle was sprawled out on two lawn chairs looking like he was taking a nappy.

And where's your data? Maybe I can check the grids at some races to see how you're doing? Oh, wait, nevermind---just saw your avatar pic, you're in the MotoGP under #46..

Care to give an example of such dialogue? We've exchanged not more than 5-6 replies to each other's posts in threads over the whole winter until now. The guy commented on the preciseness of the GPS measurements, and I clarified that the receiver actually had a clear sky.

...but I guess I should apologize for taking up from your bandwidth. I'm also sure your comments are always extremely interesting and useful to the whole GTAM pool.

EDIT @ Fiery254: In all fairness, I must say that I always found your comments in particular very useful. But you were very insulting and rude at this one time, IMO without too much of a valid reason. Anyway, sorry for picking the fight.

LOL... really man?

I never brag, I read/listen to what others have to say and filter the useful from non-useful information.
You'll never catch me talking about "analyzing data" or shedding 2-3 seconds from my lap times, etc.

I plan on getting out there and having fun, not over-think every little detail and obsess over it.

Just sayin'

So, when did you hear me brag? And why do you think I don't filter the useful from the non-useful info?

And what's wrong with trying to shed 2-3 seconds from the lap times?!?!?!?! What exactly is your definition of getting out there and having fun, if I may ask?

You are not racing, so complaining about 2/3 seconds is not going to get you a track day trophy.
If you want to be faster, make notes and improve on areas where your skills are lacking.
If you have anything to prove it would be to yourself, for yourself and not anyone else.

The word "fun" is subjective and means different things to different people.
If you enjoy analyzing your data, lines and lap times, then sure, do your thing.

For me, it would be to get out there and not think about any of those things.
I'm sure there are a lot of people on here that are a lot faster than you, but you never hear them talk for days on end about their lap times, etc.

The best of luck to you man.

Made it onto YouTube! Woohoo!
Passed at 6:28 between 1 and 2

That extra 30-40hp is amazing. I hit 190-200kph while you're hitting 240kph.

What is that you're on, a duc 1098 sf?

So, if you're not trying to improve your lines and technique, what the hell are you gonna do at a trackday?! You said it---it's not a race, so what is it? Since it's not a school, the only way to get feedback for how you're doing is by analyzing your data (lap times, split times, tire wear). Otherwise it's just making circles. I can do that around the block as well, lol.. Go, do a trackday, then I'll be here waiting to see your posts about your new laptimer, I promise you.

As for the faster people here on the forum---I'm sure, no, I KNOW there are many many many of them! It's not hard to look around at the track and differentiate between the fast and the slow. The fast ones don't need to talk for days on end, because they know what they're doing. Those who don't---they ask. That's what I do.

See you at the track.

what were you on? i might have you on go pro

This thread is so awesome! :)

By the way, I have to apologise to a rider in the green group. While I was riding control (orange vest, noisy sv) I made a safe pass on the short straight before the hairpin but then hit a false neutral and completely blew the corner. Sorry if I spooked anyone.

I need to get one of those quick shifter and throttle blippers to help me keep up I guess. Anyway the brakes are where its at. Any fuul nose.

I only go to TMP once or twice a year at the most. Although, to be fair, I felt a bit of a cherrypicker yesterday. But, I have to say, I was disappointed in some people in intermediate. They were nowhere near the pace I've previously seen there. TMP need to get their act together and start enforcing some basic guidelines. Letting people choose their own level isn't working. When I finally asked to go to red I was given the sticker, no questions asked. and the person giving me the sticker couldn't have seen me ride one single lap all day.

I'm 2 up in the rear which produces (from memory) a 12% variance. So 240kph would become 211kph.

Honestly wasn't my intention as I don't really improve. See reasons above. btw, I used to ride a 1098 at the track. I'm way quicker on the 600.

Stock suspension on most base Ducs is a crapshoot at the very least. My old 1098 needed respringing and revalving in the front and a complete replacement in the rear before it began to perform well. If you're (or your missus) is intent on selling the SF then don't invest the cash. If you're keeping it then invest the cash. It'll be worth it in the long run, even for street duty. And, imho, you were riding that thing pretty well tbh. You got off the corners pretty well, I had to work to get position.

I will gladly accept any compliment. Especially on GTAM. Lol

I found even I was stuck behind some people on the infield, I could have maybe passed them but it would have been right in the corner or just after. I wasn't comfortable doing it and it was yellow group anyways so I just stayed behind. But then they would disappear on the straights.

SF1098 It's for sale. I just can't push it to its limits.
1. It's too damn pretty
2. It's really tough to get good body position on it. High seat, wide handlebars.

I need something I can drop and not care about
And that has better " track " positioning.

I figure not too bad for 2nd track day ever.

As for green vs yellow group, last year I found I was way to fast for Green. And I hate being held up and not able to pass. But I'm totally comfortable with people passing me. I figure yellow would be the right group for me.

Edit: also jealous of the quick shifters and slipper clutches. Envious!
But, I believe in learning to ride properly before I start putting in the rider aids.
And it's fun to hit perfect throttle down shifts, while breaking, and turning, and, and, and. :)

FWIW I personally like all the thinking out loud and people talking about gizmos on their bikes and asking questions and obsessing about minutiae or reporting on their riding and lap times. It's what I come here to read. It's not wasting bandwidth, it's the whole point! It's the virtual version of standing around in the pits jawing between sessions. If people don't like it they can apply their own filters and just read what interests them, and they can always start their own thread if they want to take the conversation somewhere else.

This thread and especially Fiery's video have me SO worked up to get out there....

It seems that people think that being able to hold a line and having done 3 track days means they ride yellow. They need to separate it by times.
