TMP Labour Day Weekend

Was there today, super awesome! Open track all day. Morning was good, 2 hour rain delay, then 2.5 hours of sunny, hot, open track action. Got almost as much track time as 2 normal 3 group track days. It was my first time at TMP on my new bike and I managed to take 1 second out of my best, 1:21.6. It was tough because of a few puddles being on the good lines, and traction wasn't 100 percent for me. Super fun though!

So the 6R was only 1 second faster for you than your old SV? If conditions had been perfect, how much more time do you think you could have dropped?

I have been very curious to hear about your TMP times on the new bike because I am doing similar lap times to your old SV650 times (on a BOTT LW class bike, albeit one with more power than your SV), and have wondered what I might expect to achieve on a 600. I figured the bike difference alone might be worth 2-3 seconds, but maybe not?

I was very impressed by all the riders there on monday. Even with the open track there were no issues with people passing or getting impatient. Everyone was extremely polite and thought of the other riders. Big thumbs up to everyone there for making it run so smoothly

We were up on Sunday the 1st. Thanks Orlin for the hospitality. I have posted my favourite pictures here. if any are of you or someone you know, feel free to take the picture. These are raw edits only

If you would like it removed, let me know. There are about 115 on photobucket if you would like to review.

What's the photobucket link? Thanks in advance!

I expected to easily get under 1:20 on the ZX6R. I'm still not cornering quite as fast on that bike, most of the time, as I was on my SV. The SV was insane for cornering speed. Several front end slides and a near highside was enough warning to not try too hard. haha... Turn 1 had a bunch of puddles for most of the afternoon, and affected my line a bit, but slowing down too much into turn 1 because I never wanted to miss the apex and risk being forced into a puddle was affecting my pace through 1 the most. There was also an annoying puddle right after the kink on the right side, right where I normally like to turn into 8, and I was forced to take a tighter line there all day. Plus I was being a wimp in turn 6. haha...

Youll break through the 1;20 barrier soon and easily.

If I go back to TMP. I was honestly expecting to get down to 1:18. Maybe I should stop trying different tire brands and types and just put the Dunlop UK slicks on and be done with it. haha...

ive done this to three dunlops at tmp this year already. could be a pressure thing, could be too much throttle too fast coming out of the corners. at least thats what my problem was. with the heat we had yesterday my tire pressures kept growing through the day so i had to constantly drop them between sessions. its also likely because its tmp and its rough as **** and if you arent going fast enough to keep that slick hot youll start to do that to it.
you had a couple of fast guys tell you it was setup issues, fix that before you continue to search for other issues

Saw what's behind the dots, hehe. You're right, that, and many other things. I'll try again on Thursday :)
I deleted it because most people won't know what I was talking about :)

Yeah, many suspension issues here. Last time i was at TMP was 2010. Running 1:17s and my tires basically looked shiny after. Surface is very easy on tires

I remember back in 2003/2004 TMP was very easy on tires. Now it seems to not be easy on my tires. Different bike, and I'm faster now, but I wonder if it's also the difference in bumps in (mainly in turn 1) combined with WOT that's exposing suspension tuning issues.

If you're hitting the bumps in 1 your line is wrong. Keep it tighter on the exit so you stay inside the bumps and hard on the gas.

Here are the photos I took from Saturday, be kind I'm in no means a 'pro' at photography I just 'point and shoot' lol

There are lots so here is the link:

I'm not hitting THOSE bumps, but turn 1 is still quite bumpy. Maybe it just feels bumpy to me because of suspension setup issues. I dunno...
