TMP Labour Day Weekend

A DOT race tire or race slick will never, ever get up to operating temp without warmers. Whoever told you that a few warm up laps is sufficient is completely wrong.

I never said a slick would. Guy with the chewed up tire had a street tire on. But I do know a few people that run slicks with out warmers and they have no problems.

A D211 is not a street tire.
this one, not 49overs

Slicks/DOT race tires without warmers is like a big bowl of ice cream and no spoon, ya sure you can eat it but your just going to make a mess and get it all over your face without enjoying its creamy goodness.

Well yeah, but it doesn't make the bike unridable.

What are we talking about again?

Cheap ebay warmers wouldn't have made a difference anyway. After a couple laps your tires would have been warm regardless. Tmp is just a rough track with bumps that cause your tires to skip when you roll on out of the corners. Bad suspension doesn't help. What do you ride?

This is what is wrong with what you wrote.

No DOT race tire or race slick will ever be at operating temp even after 100 laps, let alone after 'a couple'. If the tire is off temp then the tire is not working properly, the carcass is not flexing properly, and you get cold tearing.

The Dunlops are very sensitive to being off temp. You're giving bad information on this subject.

In all fairness I thought they were just normal DOTs but I've seen Pirellis with normal tire wear without being on warmers.
But I'm not going to keep beating a dead horse.

The horse isn't dead. We have yet to solve any of these tire issues. IMO there are too many variables to be able to solve it on the internet. Ideas may come up, but there are good reasons why there are significant practice sessions before any race weekend. Then race day comes, conditions are slightly (or greatly) different and you make your best educated guess on how to change setup (the word setup is meant to encompass all variables) based on your practice test results and go for it.

Ok, if you can't heat race tires up to proper operating temperature by riding them that means that riding alone doesn't generate enough heat. So then when you go riding after taking race tires off warmers, does it mean that race tires are losing heat and getting to the lower temperature that you would bring them up to without warmers (just by riding) anyways?
